bad day at the track (I suck, SCT sucks and cold weather sucks)

long rant but I have to do it!
A little reminder: I've only been to the track twice before today with this setup and both times were during the summer. I've ran a 12.4 @ 111mph NA on slicks and a 12.5 @ 111mph NA on Nittos. On a leaky bottle and sh!tty pressure I went a 11.9 @ 120mph. So we have cool weather and 3rd time's a charm, right? WRONG!!!!!

We get to the track about 30 mins before racing starts. So I yank the Nittos and put the slicks on and go fill my bottle. I remembered that I was on the N2O tune and wanted to make my 1st pass NA. So I plug in my Xcal2 and load the tune (but change my 2 step from 3800-4800 since I'm on slicks) Well I remember someone saying that you don't want to mess with crap like opening doors etc, while loading a tune b/c it may fvck the PCM up. I had some friends by my passenger side and had my windows up b/c it was cold. I lock the doors and load the tune, I left the drivers side door open b/c I was talking to a friend while loading the NA tune. The tune is finished. I crack the bottle and even though it's full it's at 700psi. I start the car, turn on the bottle heater to let it heat up for a few minutes before I do my NA run. I step out the car and shut the door. HOLY SH!T, I locked my keys in my car with the car running and the BOTTLE HEATER ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I SUCK!! This bottle doesn't have the temp transducer b/c the last one went bad. I bought the bottle from a friend and I'm now not 100% sure if it has the pop off disc in it. I'm in panic mode!!!!!! I finally find a clothes hanger and a slimjim, luckily a guy new how to use a slim jim and got the door unlocked. I pressure gauge was PEGGED. I turn off the heater, and put a bad of ice on the bottle.
I start the car and rev it up and the 2 step is still at 3800, I load the tune about 5 more times, all the while it says 4800 but won't load it!!!!!!!!!!!! So now I'm stuck. I pull up do a burnout, stage and go. I let the clutch out, the suspension worked perfectly (front end barely came up and back end didn't squat)....

Then it fell on its face because I was launching too low! Resulting in a 2.00 60' and a 13.03 @ 106.94mph. The 2 step killed the entire run!

Now I say fvck it, and load the N2O tune. It shows complete. I pull up, do a burnout and I notice the 2 step kicked in at 3800, yet my N2O tune doesn't have the 2 step set. Also during the burnout the regular rev limit somehow got changed to 3800. It somehow kept my NA tune and changed the rev limiter!! I'm like WTF, I close the bottle, turn off the switch and attempt a run, but the car wouldn't go past 3800 rpm. SCT SUCKS. Imagine if I wouldn't have realized that my N2O tune didn't have a 2 step and would have sprayed it with 26* timing. That was a 2.07 60' and a 22.63 @ 42.58 mph, wooo whooo, by now I'm pissed.

I try to load the N2O tune again and again and again and it finally takes it. Now I'm nervous wondering if it really took it, but the 2 step was gone so I was confident.

I line up w/ a friend with a high 10 second LS1. I do a nice burnout.

Launch and loose traction! The track is too cold and THE TRACK SUCKS, I get out the groove and almost go in his lane. I shut it down and ran a 1.877 60', 17.54 @ 46.89 mph. Needless to say I'm still pissed!

I try again, this time I launch really easy, short shift into 2nd to get the car to hold the track (granny shifting the entire way). This resulted in a 1.955 60', 12.14 @ 117.31

I had a couple other runs that I had to abort about 1/2 track but I've bitched enough.

Oh my dad brought is '08 Challenger SRT8 also. He was having bad traction issues, he ran some mid 14's, I knocked off a 13.7 with it, which is still way off the mark for that car.

Here's the video

thanks for the support guys. It's bad when you're over .5 sec off where you should be. I'll make up for it next time. I really need to step up to a 10" wheel and get a 325/50 MT Drag Radial. I think that would fix a good bit of my probelms (ET wise)

Well, im sorry to see the horrible day for you man. Keep your head up. Get the little things worked out first. Was the track ice cold? Seems like it was a muggy day and it started bad for you.

Its so nice to get a cold day because of the air, but when the sun isnt out keeping the track warm, its tough to get anything done.

You are a badass driver man, just keep railing the car, and it will do what you built it to do

thanks Trevor. The sun was hiding all day, they actually shut the track down early b/c the track temp was too cold and unsafe.

yeah im with trev, your car is b.a. haha ive thought that since i first saw it on MM. I dont get how you can run n/a and then next run have your 100 shot on, that would throw me off way to much, pretty much like runnnig 2 cars.
