Most HP stock 4.6l DOHC can handle?

What do you think the max hp that the 4.6l doch engine could handle before youd need to start upgrading the internals?

are you talkin about the 03-04 from the cobras or earlier years? i bet those internals could handle 1000hp...i wouldnt want to test that but i have heard people say they can handle that.but the earlier years were not forged so i would imagine they are similar to the 2v breaking point

what he said the terminators have a much stouter internals, then the earlier modulars. the pre 03 cobra motors will be good to around 450 rwhp with a ghood tune

Well I pushed 403rwhp on a mustang dyno for over a year and 10k miles with ZERO problems what so ever. Now my Mach is no langer a DD I had her re-tuned to 458rwhp on a mustang dyno. Both of these numbers are through 4.10 gears which I have been told show lower numbers than actual. I think I am at the breaking point now and have started shoping for a forged short block.

96-01 cobras have a forged crank but the same piston and powdered rods. ive seen them take 450 but really wouldnt push it much futher. the 03/04 cobra are forged everything (crank, rods, pistons) and of what research ive done, ive seen 600 as an average rating)stock).

Unless it is an 03/04 Cobra, I would not exceed the 450 mark. After that you are waiting for a puked rod. If it is the terminator motor, they seem to be good into the 600's.

as long as you dont over rev the motor and keep good gas and a great tune you can go over 500

if I wanted to go go to 600hp all i would have to get is the term. rods and the crank? because i know my alum block can handle well over 600hp.
