Cold starts

Ok obviously I'm no expert but when my car is left to sit in the cold for a while (this seems to be the only time this occurs) it doesn't want to start. I'll keep the gas pedal down n then eventually the car will stay on but the idle stays very low, around 500ish rpm. Eventually if I keep the car on long enough or if I drive around a little the idle starts to be normal at 1000 rpm? Any ideas? Iac? Idk

hmm it could be just the cold, but it could be a bunch of other things too. I had a problem similiar to that once. It would start at first but i had to crank it a few times and it did. Bad spark maybe. You do a tune up in ever?

not tuned, like tune up. spark plugs changed, oil, filter, battery checked, alternator checked, fuel system checked or replaced, anything like that, that you did or know of?

the best way to keep your car in working order, is preventitive maintenence. Get to the potential problems before they become a problem.

No, dont replace the IAC, just clean it. Go get some throttle body cleaner, take off IAC, clean with throttle body cleaner, then put it back

But im having the exact same issues as you. If my car sits a while in the cold it refuses to start no matter what. I got some new spark plugs and will be putting them in really soon...hopefully that fixes my problem

I wouldn't call it a surge but it isn't always stable

go buy some starter fluid and start your car and pop the hood and start spraying vacuum lines and the base of the plenum and intake manifold... anywhere air could get in... if the engine revs up then you have found your leak
