General Musing Question.

This is more from my own curiosity than something I'm really planning on doing right now.

I realize that the modular engines are all quite similar and a few parts are interchangeable, especially between say an 03 cobra and an 03 GT's 4.6. I know the main differences in the Cobra and the GT engines, so the question is what all from a GT 4.6 will fit on a Cobra 4.6?

I was looking for engine blocks and I saw a 4.6l block. It doesn't specify 2v or 4v, so I'm assuming it could go either way? If I were to buy that and try to make it 4v, what all on my 2v could I just move over there and what all wouldn't work?

I've been up for 26 hours now, I feel like I'm not making any sense at all.

I always search before I make a post. Maybe I'm too tired to even be on the internet or something.

the blocks are interchangeable. so that means pistons, rods, heads, oil pan, starter, transmissions, etc. the cobra's and gt's have different cranks and flywheels, clutches etc you'll just have to look into that more. some blocks will need a couple new holes drilled to accept 4v heads though.

That's the part I was the most curious about. I was wondering why none of the online sites selling the blocks mentioned that at all. That's why this question even came up.

And when I searched I either searched for topics, which didn't get me much, if I searched posts I got thousands where anyone mentioned a 4.6, Cobra, GT, it was a mess, haha.

I would just hold off and get an alum.block. with a steel crank. you can find teskids for around 300-350 or check your local craigslist for a 4.6 out of a mark viii which are 4v teskids

Alright, I'm more just curious right now, I'm not going to jump into that until I get my finances straight and the rear end fixed, but I was thinking about it and decided to go ahead and ask.

the short blocks are all interchangable. the hole that needs to be drilled on the deck is to put 2 or 3v heads on a 4v block.

I run an 03 cobra block and I didn't drill any holes in the water passage. I think that's only needed for the aluminum 4v teskid block.
