SCT XCalibrator 2 help please

I just have one question really. There is a guy on bay selling a SCT XCalibrator 2 for $160. My question is will this work for my '01 Bullitt? He was going to use it on a '06 GT. Is there just one SCT XCalibrator 2 for all '96-'06 fords or is this the wrong model for my car? Will I have to have the SCT XCalibrator 2 retuned? Can I do that online or will I have to send it away? I guess that's more than one question, huh?

its a helluva of a price if its $160 buy it now...im not sure how much it costs to have it reburned or whatever its called but it cant be much, and then get a custom tune while youre at it,might even come out cheaper than buying it new...mine came out to like $410ish brand new with custom tune at VMPtuning.com

So there is only one model for fords, you just have to have it tuned to your car?

don't buy it.
if you do it runs about $300.00 to send it to Xcal to have it unmarried.
so youd be paying more than if you bought a new one.

never buy a used tuner.
if you do and it's married all you have it a scan tool left.

$300, Wow! I went to the SCT web site to find a dealer near me. Turns out there is one closer than I thoughtr. I wrote them an email asking them if they do it. Maybe they can get me a better price. It will have to be a much better price though. lol

the problem is that the sct dealer can't do it himself.. he has to send it back to SCT himself and have them unmarry it. and i am sure he is going to charge a little more just to make a profit for himself.

Oh, hold on. It's not vin locked! He said the other car was rerturned to stock before he sold it. I just read the ad on american muscle and thought the Xcal had to be tuned before they sent it out.

its still vin locked, even if you return it to stock, cause if that was the case then anyone could return theirs to stock and then sell it

They can do that. I did it with my diablo sports tuner for my old V6. On ths SCT site in the FAQ. section:
Q: Can your product be used on more than one vehicle?
A: Our products support many vehicles. However, only one vehicle can be tuned at a time. Our programmers vin lock to the vehicle. You can return one vehicle back to stock and then use it on another vehicle.

if it's returned to stock it's not vin locked...

what happens is if the owner returns his tune to his oem one. it erases is vin.

ever notice when you tune it for the first time it "erases" your stock modual.
what it is doing is locking your vin in.
it saves your oem tune to a file called "return to stock"

once you download that file it unlocks your vin. but then again all you have left is your oem tune.

it is a feature that saves SCT an assload of money.
