wheel options......i want a summer set....opinions or suggestions please 18+for 03gt
ok, as many have you have noticed , i just picked this car up recently...
![]() my wheels and tires are in great shape, fronts are all season and rear are perelli snow tires.... so when spring rolls around, i will need to get new tires, so i figured i might as well just buy a new set of rims with tires...(tires on it now are new) i was thinking 18in saleen replica's in black 18x9 front , and 18x10/10.5 in the rear...like my old car..here..(i think they were 18x9 all 4) ![]() now can anybody give me any more options with pics and also give me the correct offset, as i don't want my tires to be sticking out of the fenders.... i was planning on buying these on ebay...item # 380098743266 but asking for an 18x10 instead of the 18x9.... also does anybody run same size tires front and rear like an 18x9?...this way you can at least rotate them.... i would like some more suggestions... i prefer black wheels stagger wheels black inside and polished lips would be nice too.... again i'm just looking for a simple tire wheel package that would look good on my car.... also how many people are running 19in wheels, and if so are they all the same width and size?..... again i don't see the point of changing tires onto rims ever summer and winter , this is my dd, so i don't want use the snow tires over the summer......please help me out with some advice or suggestions.....i just don't knwo what to buy, and also why don't 05+ wheels fit these cars?...here is what i'm trying to shoot for- the body kit and side exhaust, but i want to see more.... ![]() thanks in advance jesse Last edited by turbot4; January 24th, 2009 at 04:39 AM. |

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA... for a second there I felt like I was working at a school and all the little kids were asking one question after another (just ribbin' ya
)Nice to see your new ride and congrats ![]() OK, you can easily run the set of wheels/tires on eBay, but the tires are crap, as far as I am concerned. So no one needs to search eBay... here is the I would recommend a set of 9"s & 10.5"s if you want to go wiiiiiiide on your ride. Off-sets are going to be +24 (f) and +28 (r) for a properly fitting set with only slight possible rubbing out back. This can be dealt with easily by a little fender rolling and such. As to rotating tires...... it is overrated as far as I'm concerned. I have never rotated my tires as I drive them hard and all wear out very evenly. Now, I very rarely burn the rears and this may be a factor for you. If you like your "Krispy Kremes" daily, you may consider going 9"s all around. I don't recommend 19"s on a SN95/New Edge as this limits your tire options and just makes the available ones, more expensive. Stick with 17"s or 18"s and will be most flexible in tire dept. I prefer 18"s, but others like the lesser expensive 17" tires as you can run 40 & 35 series front/back, respectively. With 18"s, you really need to run 35/30 series to go with 9"s/10.5"s. Lastly, the S197 bolt pattern will fit your ride, but the off-sets differ and will rub if you go OVER 8"~8.5"s (f) and 9.5"~10" out back (some variation there) Just stick with wheels meant for your ride. RECAP: 1. Overall budget for your purchase? 2. How aggressive a Summer tire do you want? ....a. DD only ....b. 1/4 mile? ....c. roundy round ....d. twisties ![]() Hook us up wit some knowledge, bro ![]() HTH Jazzer

wow, that's alot of info, and my head is now spinning and i feel sick......hoestly, i want to only spend 1k or under....i like the whells on it, but as i said they have all season/snow on them...i would prefer to save some money as i do want to get a supercharger in the summer...the only reason i want to get another set is so i don't have to switch out tires from summer to winter.....i think the car looks good as is, but i was thinking of the cheaper alternative..unless there is some sort of sport all season deal...tire that performs well. then i'll just keep the stocker bullit's
this will be a dd, ..no twisties or dragging.. ![]() anybody have any pics with there mustangs with 18's and all the same size tire on all 4?.....does it look funky? Last edited by turbot4; January 24th, 2009 at 08:48 AM. |

These will work fine on your budget....
![]() ....But, if your planning on installing an S/C later, however, this is a BAD choice as far as I am concerned. You are gonna seriously upgrade your RWHP and run on the Nexus 3000! ![]() The tires are the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT item keeping your ride on the road, next to the driver. Don't upgrade your power and downgrade your tires. Do this right and get some good rubber on the ground. THEN, get some good brakes for those tires. THEN, think about a power adder so you can STOP your ride as well as make it go! Jazzer

maybe i'll just buy 2 more bullit rims and put good tires on them ....and just keep the back 2 for winter, hows that sound?....or is there an all season substitue, as i said i really don't want to spend for wheels and tires, as i would much rather save the money for my sc unit.....opinions?...i'm just a confused middle aged man now...i don't know whats best....

I think you should run the same tires all four corners. The exception would be a set of DR's for the 1/4 ONLY.
The Nexen 3000 tires description in eBay ad: UTQG rating - Treadware 360 one of the highest rating* / Traction AA highest rating / Temperature A highest rating / Speed rating 186 mph highest rating. Nexon is.... (bla bla bla) * One of the highest rating???? The higher the number the harder the tire! Hard tires are not what one wants with higher power. My Winter PS2's are 220 and my Summer R888's are 100 UTQG. Of course, they are both way more expensive than the eBay ones and don't include wheels ![]() I understand your want of an S/C. I just think that tires should be a higher priority as you need them to CONTROL your extra horses. These tires will work, I just think tires are a more important and you asked for opinions ![]() Jazzer

nitto 555s, go! As soon as its warm enough to justify buying new tires im going to have a set of 245/45/17 555 on the front, and 275/40/17 555r on the back. I don't see any problem with that, and would recommend that all day to anyone who doesn't need more tire, and gets minimal rain. You really can't skip out on traction, its just not safe.

didn't read the whole thread but you said you wanted 18's. Just warning you tires are very expensive for 18x10in tires. 300.00 for a nitto DR per tire. just making sure you know. if you want to step it down to a 17in rim like your stockers, nitto DR per tire will run you 170-190.00 for a 17x10.5. now that is just an example, i know this is your DD so you may not want to run DR but the price will always be a 100.00 difference pretty much.

yeah, i'm still not sure....but i like 18's....these will only be summer tires and rims, so i should se many years from them ....butlike i said i'm still kinda up in the air, as i do want to save money....i'm going to see what type of tires they make for all season performance...maybe if i could get a decent rear set, i would not buy new rims.....honestly i change cars like i change underwear...i'm 33, and propably no lie owned about 75 cars already ......
i like my stang for now, but i'm already asking why i dumped my sho... |

Summer tires
I put ultra high performance SUMMER tires on my 2003 GT about 1 1/2 years ago. Unless you have two sets of wheels and tires DON'T use summer tires in the winter. My tires are so hard when it's below 30 degrees that they feel like there flat 'til I drive them at least 5 miles. I get terrible tire spin trying to pull out into traffic until they warm up. It can be pretty scary sometimes! As for different tire sizes I use 275 40 x17 's on all four corners. I can rotate them that way and car is balanced better in the turns.
