throttle body, mass, intake plenium questions, i need answers...

so i'm in the quest for more power, is power to be gained with simple bolt ons like a bigger throttle body/mass intak eect...can anybody explain this to me...sorry for the noobish questions, i just don't know shit about mustangs...
i was reading a port throttle body or what i think they call an intake plenum, on my car it has a pony on it on the top of the motor, kinda small in size...added like 20 hp...???
can i please get the proper names so i can do some searching....i just need some answers so i can do a few mods to make some more power....

If you want big power than your best bet is a blower/turbo/nitrous. Bolt ons do help i.e. headers, mid-pipe, catback, cold air intake, throttle body. And a tune will help bring the best of the bolt ons out.

Power can be gained by the small bolt ons such as a plenum/tb/cai/pulleys/etc but for the most part if you do just one thing you wont notice much of a difference power wise, although a tb/plenum/cai usually gives a lot better throttle response. Its when they all work together that they add up to make a noticable difference.

as for names the thing with the pony is the plenum. the thing to the left of it thats round is the tb/throttle body and a cai is the black thing that is hooked to the throttle bod

The other things arent needed for a blower but you do indeed have the right idea. If you have those parts yes the blower will work better.

I had a wise man who has built many 9 second racing engines and chevelles tell me that $15 per horsepower is better than $50 per horsepower.
That means that you get more out of blowers($15 per horsepower) than you do bolt ons ($50 per horsepower), obviously, so don't waste yer money yet. Save it up and get a blower, or gears. 4.10's will make you blast a load in your pants everytime you floor it.

i kno so far wit the very few bolt-ons i have, i noticed the most power difference after puttin on my cai.. right after puttin that on i went from a 14.8@96mph to 14.3@98mph.. but bolt ons can get you really far if you do them all right wit the right tune.. i've seen some guys on herre wit out any blowers runnin in the high 12s

you can ask the guy you brought it from. And if it accellerates waaay too fast for a stock stang and your RPM's are really high on the freeway, it probably has gears.

your stokck MAF is an 85mm, no need for a larger one, if you want to change it go with a c&l. a little power could be gained from a 70mm t/b, but the plenum is more of a choke point.
