Car wont start
Hey guys i put my car away for the winter and just went out today to start it for the first time in a few months. It would not start. It has been kept in a heated garage though. Any ideas on why she wont wake up?

Wont start or wont turn over at all? I got lost by reading the part that it wont start and then the part that says "she wont wake up". If it wont turn over have you checked the battery?

Probably battery. Charge it or jump her. If that doesn't work then we can start getting into the next step
![]() But when a car sits for awhile it is most likely battery. Then fuel turning bad (depending how long it sat, but for a few months it wont be bad enough to not start).

maybe you should clean the ECU. Dip it in a bucket of water.

I left it over night last night to trickle charge and i will see if that helps today, it has about a 1/2 tank of gas. I checked the fuel pump reset and it was not poped. I have not checked to see if i can hear the fuel pump but i will when i get home.

probably not enough juice to get it started. a jump should work just fine.

I'd check the battery first. Did you add any Stabil to your gas tank or an additive to remove the water in your car? It's always a good idea to put a fuel stabilizer in your tank if you are storing it for awhile. Also, it's a good idea to go and start the car every once in awhile to get the fluids and lines lubricated so seals wont dry up and crack.

not that i know of, unless the guy before me did... but i dont think so. I also heard that the ghetto way to see if your getting any fuel pressure on the rail is to just push in on the schrater valve and duck is this true?

let the car sit and charge for 10 minutes, then crank her over
if ur trying to jump a DEAD GT battery with a 99 civic ur gonna run into some issues as well. |

you need to replace the battery..
jumping would only be a temp fix. you drained it too much and it won't hold a charge. |

that's because you drained all your cold cranking amps.
Get a battery out of another car ( not a civic) and drop it in your car. It'll start right up. Any top post battery with your cca's would work. ( the cca's should be written on your battery) |
