1. Cat-back exhaust, you can't have a mustang without good sound to it
(MAC, Magnaflow, Borla, SLP, Bassani, Flowmaster)
2. Mid-pipe either h-pipe or x-pipe. If you are worried about inspection or emmissions get a catted h-pipe or x-pipe. ( MAC, BBK, Bassani but wouldn't reccommend it since it sounds like a loose convertor sometimes.
3. GEARS, definately a must if you can afford it cause the labor at most shops is 300 to install. 4.10 gears are the norm and there is not a difference between gas milage of 4.10 and 3.73 so get 4.10 if you want the most out of your car.
4. Shifter, cause 3rd gear is a pain in the butt. (pro-5.0 or steeda tri-ax)
5. Upper plenum (Accufab, C&L, Dragon, Trick Flow)
6. Throttle bodie, wouldn't go with a 75mm unless you have heads and cams cause it can actually hurt you. (Accufab, MAC, FRPP, Dragon, Trick Flow)
7. Tuner or chip, with the gears and all the modifications you can squeeze some extra power out with a tune, preferably on a dyno. (SCT, Diablo)
8. Underdrive pulleys, reduces drag on the accesories. (STEEDA, MAC)
9. If you need a clutch (Centerforce dual friction, closest to stock feeling, SPEC)
10. Springs, to lower that 4x4 ride height (Eibach, Steeda)
11. Longtube headers, a good improvement on exhaust flow over the stock but some might have problems with inspections (MAC, BBK, Hooker)
12. CAI, just get a little breath of colder air, only expect between 3-7 hp from these (JLT CAI or RAI highly recommended, Densecharger, Mac, BBK but don't recommend getting a chrome CAI cause it actually gets hotter air, and of course K&N)

Well thats all i can think of right now, with these modifications you will be started on the fast track to having a pretty fast car with a mean sound. And should be running in the 13's to high 12's depending on driving skills.
this needs to be updated.

Explain the TB and loosing power. Why would you loose power?

Also, explaing the chrome CAI getting hot air???

well the chrome intake heats up, try touching it after your car is running. Air running thru a 180 degree intake will be hot air. If you have a plastic intake it doesn't heat up as much. With the TB if you don't have the intake to help with the flow the throttle bodie has too much volume.

A great power combo for me and a combo for making a fun car is almost straight from the list above.

Bassani Catted X-pipe
Flowmaster catback
JLT CAI painted to match DHG
Steeda UDP's
Diablo sport Predator (Dyno tuned)
Full suspension and control arms
4.10 gears and Auburn Pro diff w/ 31 spline axles
MGW orange handled shifter(best out there)
Tons of Royal Purple

I bet this car will crack into the 12's back in the states.
I also have a full wet N2O kit from Nitrous Express sitting in my closet for when I get back to the states. I will do some Accel Coil packs, Grantelli connectors/wires, and propper plugs and a dyno tune whn it gets installed, maybe even a bigger fuel pump.

I would like to know if anyone actually got a 12 second quarter mile time with these mods. i mean i can definately see 13s, low 13s, but 12s??? people that supercharge do 12s and that is alot more horsepower than just small mods

Suspension and gears with the right power mods will get you there. Its amazing what traction and a good powerband will do. Oh and remember this isn't a regular GT it's a Bullitt, lighter weight and with a better intake, exhaust, etc...

I'm sorry, I don't usually do this, but man, 12's? Only when you hook up the bottle. I understand the traction and power band issue, that will work for any car.

With the "better" parts and weight reduction you're not better than 1/8 of a second from a "regular" GT.

Don't make it go from Bullitt to Bullshit.

Well We'll see what she lays down when I get her back to Houston and get it retuned and some track tires on it. If it doens't hit 12's I'll go from there. Lots of Bullitts have been known to touch mid/low 13's completely stock even running the Goodyear skaterback tires. So With the right suspension, mild power mods, built rear, gears, clutch and sticky tires and the driver mod I can hope for low 13's at least. If I put the bottle in and get it tuned and it doesn't hit mid/low 12's I'll just make it a cruiser. Don't want to go all out on this car. Thats what my 93' SHO is for

Oh, with the bottle you'll hit mid/low 12's easy. Good luck. Nice car BTW...

for the 1/4 mile time are you talking about a GT? What do you think a cobra will run with these mods?

Times for the 99-01 Cobra will be very similar to the 99-04 GT without some good mods.

Good post, but i never had any problems with my Bassani catted X-pipe "rattling" like that.

What next?

I am new to the forum and the mustang scene (got my first one in april)... I have made some mods (B&M pro ripper SLP lts and X-Pipe Bassani cat back K&N intake) and I'm wondering what kind of gains I can get with what so I can make an informed decission about whats next. I am looking at the Trick Flow intake manifold and TB, an SCT tuner, Patriot heads (only brand I know of that makes modular heads, I will take suggestions), comp cams, underdrive pulleys. Thanks
