2000 mustang gt turbo rebuild!

Hey guys i have a 2000 gt that im turbocharging either going to use a Precision t-76 or a master power t-70

my questions is the motor has roushly 111,000 miles on it now i know once i put the custom turbo set up on there i better start saving months down the line for either a new motor or rebuidling my motor, now with a budget of about 3k what would be my best possible options? oh hp wise i want like 500-550 is my goal , i already have clutch, tranny, fly wheel, fuel set up, to complete my set up..

With a budget of 3k you are probably going to have to build your own. Possibly buy the hotside, which there was one in the classified adds. Aftermarket K-member, tuner, injectors, etc. 3k is going to be tight.

Things were kinda mixed from the way I read them, You have 3k to spend on a turbo setup or an engine?

what kind of fuel setup do you have right now? what clutch?

500-550 will almost definitely blow up on the dyno with that kind of mileage on a stock motor. you can probably get away with 400 for a while until you can save up for a built motor, then crank the boost. a master power t-70 will be more than enough for your goals and i dunno if you've looked into pricing or not, but a mp t70 is less than half as much as a precision t-76. you need a tubular k member, and likely coilovers and tubular a arms if you want to do it RIGHT. you can route the piping with the stock k member but i will gaurantee you will end up redoing it because of ground clearance issues. you can buy a hotside from MMR for $1400, but you can build one or get one made for cheaper. you will need the turbo, intercooler, blowoff valve, blow through MAF, wastegate, all exhaust piping, v-band clamps, all intercooler piping, tuner, dyno tune, gauges, etc etc. it will add up fast and its pretty hard to put a set budget on something like this. i don't think its possible for under $3000

if you want power, set the rest of the car up for it. you can make the power, but it means nothing when you cant use it.

I had roushly 130,XXX miles on my motor when I went turbo (MP T70). At 8 pounds it makes 400 rwhp/435rwt and it's a ton on fun on the street. I'm collecting parts to build a better lump but in the meantime it's still quick. The key is in the tune, if it runs out of fuel or has too much spark it'll be over in an instant.

I would be careful with the On3 kit, it's very cheap but the guy seems a little suspect and the materials they are using have a bad track record of cracking. Most of the kit comes from China. If you want to know more check out the forums at The Turbo Forums.com.

I don't know if it's because my comprehension sucks this morning but I'm still confused in this post...

Ok, you have all the turbo components, a good tranny and a clutch. Someone mentioned fuel... do you have any fuel components? Suspension (kmember, etc)?

You say you have $3k for the engine. That's a good amount to work with. For 500-550hp you can get a good shortblock for $3k. Like mentioned, check with Livernois or MMR. Where are you located? There may even be a local engine builder who can take care of you and build a customer block to your application within your budget. Show around on forums, even, for takeout shortblocks and even heads and cams then just have a machine shop go through them. Good thing about 2Vs is the classified market is great for them since everyone is moving on up.

Good luck and keep us posted on the build.
