I almost cried today

So I was driving around today after i put on my new springs and shocks/struts and naturally i decided to punch it. Well i started smelling something funny and than smoke came from under the hood. I stopped right away and freaked out a lil since blown engine was the first thing that came to my mind. I opened the hood and saw that my damn radiator hose popped of. I left a trail for like 1/8 mile lol but yeah. The temp gauge didnt go past normal so do you guys think there was any damage to the engine? I hope not or else i might actually cry just a lil....lol

you should be ok if it didnt overheat. good job never wonder about a smell or sound ALWAYS stop and check it out ASAP

my mechanic drove my car w/ me as a passenger and stepped on it and a smell filled the cabin. He said it was unburnt fuel, and i was thinking "my ass, that does not smell like gasoline..." so i said it doesn't smell like it, and he's like "yeah, it is though"

Do gas and unburnt fuel smell different?

im not sure on that one but i think so what elevation are you at im at 4000 so my mix is all messed up im gonna buy a tuner soon so maybe i can get that fixed

Your engine should be fine since you stopped right away. It didn't get a chance to overheat.

Ive popped a heater hose. It should be fine as long as u noticed it in time and didnt let it get to hot.

your ecu will not let the motor hurt itself so the car will shut down before overheating and causing any serious damage. ive blown a coolant line taking it up top in 4th gear and it started to run hot. replaced the line, topped it off with coolant and havent had a problem yet. still running strong!
