Wierd noise...help plz if you can

It almost sounds like a bird chriping noise. It chirps like once ever second while ideling but speeds up with rpms increase. Its hard to tell where it is coming from. It could be under the hood or possibly the tranny, god knows.

I am also trying to assosiate it with another noise the dealership never was able to figure out. It sounds like the same pitch as the pulse chirp as stated above but it is different and only occurs at 2800ish rpms and it is a very rapid chirp and lasts to about 3k rpms but its just a real rapid bursting chirp noise then it quits.

I am trying to desirn if they both are coming from the same location and or are the same issue, or if they are two intirely different problems. Reguardless i dunno what or where they are coming from and if anybody can shine some light on this i would be greatful.

Sounds like the belt. With the engine stone cold, take the belt off and crank it up. You can run it briefly without it, long enough to see if that is the problem.

If it were the belt would it be a tension issue or is it just the belt is possibly needing replacement?

It's probably just the belt. I'm not sure about Ford's (this is my first one) but on a Chevy the idler pulley will develop a squeak eventually. If it's a tension issue, the belt tensioner will jump around a little at idle when it's worn.

But if you do this and you do not hear the noise it still my be coming from the pulley. spray some WD40 on the belt if the noise goes a way thin its the belt. But if it was me I would go ahead a change the belt if it has not been done in the past 30000miles

well if it was the belt and i wanted to lube it up a little more to take away the chrip noise, water would work fine but only for a very short time, i guess i'll try it. But i've also noticed it doesn't happen all the time. But also i wouldn't doubt it being the belt i bought it 6k miles ago and it may be time for a change approaching 30k miles.

If it is the belt, don't get a Gates or whatever the cheap ones are at the Zone's or Advanced - go to Napa and get the best one they have. Those cheap ones do not last long at all.

When i worked at a mechanic shop I heard the same thing not to use WD 40 bc of the protective layer. We took a crayon and ran it on the belt and it last a lot longer than the stop squek spray.

This is borderline silly. No offence meant to anyone! Good belt's are way too cheap to be compromising. Compared to what we spend on upgrades a quality belt is silly cheap.

Belt dressing.

No matter what you use, it's temporarily covering the noise. Buy a new quality belt from Napa.

I don't know if it's true or horseshit, but a mechanic once told me anything used as belt dressing might quiet the noise a little while but accelerated the wear. Good belts are way too cheap, and painfully cruicial to mess around with. ALWAYS use the best belt you can buy.

DO NOT use wd-40. That is a lube and your belt works by using friction. If you must get by with something belt dressing is less than 3 bucks and will give you a pretty good answer. A stethoscope(like what a doctor uses) is a great way to check for noises like that. Pull off the contact pad and but a short piece of brake line or something in the end. It works fantastic. And like someone else said, replacing a belt is a cheap way to save you a ton of money.
