I've been trying to get my brother in-law to buy a stang for about a year now. He really wanted one and was deeply considering it. Every time he visited he admired my stang. His old sports car was the Supra. He's had three. So just when I thought he would join the following I got a email from him with this link. http://www.toyota-supra.info/ Anyway I now know he won't be getting a stang. Any thoughts on this car? Who would consider this a ricer?

Hard to call it rice when it has a 5.0 V-8 and 450 hp. Nice to see the Supra resurrected, Nissan has the 350 Z and Mazda the RX-8 so I guess it was just a matter of time before Toyota started building it again. Uninspired styling tho, at least from the picture.

the old supra was a badass. i really dont think they should build a supra with out an i-6. its just part of the supras heritage. itll be a badass car and i dont consider supras ricers but with the right person owning one it can def be a ricer

Actually i beg to differ on the nissan part. If you haven't noticed, Nissan is coming out with a new Nissan Skyline in 2008. Anyway, any japanese car is a ricer no matter what engine it has.

I'm unclear what part you beg to differ with.

I was speaking of cool Japanese sports cars that used to be sold here in the USA. Before they were killed off, the last versions of the 300ZX, RX-7, and to a lesser extent (performance wise) the Supra, were great cars in their day.

The Skyline has always been a very impressive performer but never sold here.

"Ricer" is a relatively new term that came about after the really good performance imports were killed off. i.e. the Supra, 300ZX, 300ZX Turbo, and RX-7. Ricer just wasn't applied to these cars, they performed very well and were respected. To me and most guys my age, a ricer is a 4-banger import, almost universally with less than 200 hp stock, that is "modded" 99.9% of the time with nothing more than a fart can.

If Toyota is resurrecting the Supra with a 450 horse V-8 I'm happy to hear it.

That car is freaking sweet I don't care what anybody says. I would drive it. I just can't bring myself to call a car w a V8 and 450 horses a ricer. Just my opinion.

I see there is some debat here after all. Personally don't think it's rice at all. Anything that could take most GT's even with a number of bolt ons earns my respect. Plus I loved the old Supra! I agree with timber, it's not where it's made that makes it rice. It's what's under the hood and who's driving it.

that thing looks badass... to me any car that comes stock with over 250 hp and pulls more tq. then a v8 while in 6 cycl? you need to get your shit straight. a stock supra against a stock stang... supra will win. im not a die hard mustang fan, but some people on this sight need to open their damn eyes and realized mustangs arent the god of the earth

if done right, supras and any foriegn car are not ricers. Though i have to say that that new supra just looks like the 2 door sporty lexus that is out.

sence when did mazda become rice? mazda is a part of Ford...the RX7 was a bad ass they are quick and fun cars i looked at getting one b4 my stang... as for the new supra i figured the would jump in with a new one with all the new muscle caars comeing out...it just gives us stang boys and girls some more comp to kick around

i don't think it's rice. the supra is just a badass car, bottom line. rx-7's aren't either. i got spanked by a twin-turbo gen 3 during the summer and had to tell the guy what a sweet car it was. if it was rice, #1, he wouldn't have beaten me, and #2, i wouldn't have given him any kind of respect. but that's just me.

Who cares if its rice or not. I am a die hard Mustang fan, both my dad and i have mustangs, but you know that it doesnt matter what you run as long as it is something you like. Not to mention imports can be somefast little cars with some incredable power to weight ratios. My point is why dog on the compition if you know that you enjoy your car and it suits your needs.

Ricers to me are the people that drive around civics with less torque than my lug nuts require and the only mods are a AEM CAI and an OBX fart cannon and buzz around like they are the hottest piece of crap out there. I can hold some respect for the new supra. I wouldn't classify it as rice. Just my $0.02.
