now that i am sure that i'm keeping my car...i gotta worry bout fixing it...

Ok so my parents are gonna sign my car over to me, but i have to deal with fixing it. and honestly now that i've had a 440hp car i dont think i will be able to stand having one with a stock motor in it. i want to build something relatively cheap, but fast. i want to try for 350-400hp n/a. i know theres a few guys on here who have done it, and i know theres a write up somewhere i just can't find it. any help is appreciated. i either want to do a 350-400horse n/a 4.6, or i'm gonna wait a little while and put together a tricked out 4v 5.4. what do you guys think?

So what happened? you have to put a new motor in it? What happened to the blower? Cant just tone it down some and put it on a new motor?

And yeah can look up acmillers posts, he is the one who made that thread. probably more doable now with the trickflow heads.

Does anyone know yet how much the tfs heads are gonna cost? and would it be better to go with ported 4v heads or the tfs heads?

Tfs heads are about 2000. Maybe 100-200 more. But whats 100 more on already 2k.

4v heads would require more than just heads. Would be much more of a headache than just bolting them in.

heres what i would do: save up for a forged shortblock, you're going to need it eventually anyways.. then do the trickflow heads and some blower cams. you can keep the car NA for a while and the blower cams will give you decent power even without a supercharger.. then when you save up enough for a blower slap that puppy on there and crank the boost!

Do you have a working motor in the car already? If so i would do the TF heads (maybe eventually?). If the motor is blown and not replaced yet i would probably do what bob suggested and save up a little extra for a forged block.

well whatever i put in it is gonna forged everything ready for either a blower or turbo. i'm just debating on 4.6 or 5.4. i really want a 5.4 bored .30 over and sleeved. my buddies dad runs a shop that does custom work and builds race car's and shit and he said he could build me a 5.4 bored .30 over and sleeved, and tricked out to handle about anything i would ever wanna throw at it. and he's real good on prices too. whatever i end up getting is gonna have 2618 forged alum. pistons with a big dish. i want around 8.7:1 comp ratio, and with 4v heads i need about a 24cc dish. i just haven't decided yet.
How much power could i make n/a with the 5.4 bored .30 over?

5.4 would be cool, but shit man with that kind of money you could be talking about a 4.6 with a nasty turbo setup that will give you more power than you or the car could handle.. if he does all kinds of custom stuff ask him to put all forged or even billet internals in your 4.6 then go with some 4v heads and a 76mm turbo. it all depends on how much you want to spend man

If you had to sell your supercharger setup it seems like your in a money crunch. I wouldn't spend excess on a setup like a 4v 5.4.

Any forged setup can get you over streetable power. A forged 4.6 could be easily taken to more than you would probably put it through. Like bob said you could throw a turbo on a 4.6 and get 1000 hp. A twin screw KB could get you high 900's. Its all about how much you want to spend. A 4.6 2v would probably be cheaper and easier, which would be more funds to spend on a better FI setup. And a rear end/tranny/suspension its more than just a motor to handle it. Just food for thought.

Think this thread would be easier to direct with an end goal/current funds. Sky is the limit ideally... but thats not always a real world option.

i dont have to do anything to my rear end or tranny or suspension. i have a built t-45 and a built 8.8. and theres litterally nothing stock left on my suspension. and i'm not lookin for 900 or 1000 hp. and i don't care about puttin a turbo or a blower on it right away. i'm leaning more towards 5.4 because its more displacement. and the price this guy is givin me is almost too good to pass up.

the .030 over 5.4 were building for my car (very budget friendly) should come out to around 400ish but while driveable will not be something you want to drive every day (n/a, 12.5 to 1 compression, huge custom ground cams, ct custom pistons, manly h beams, oem steel crank, hardballer 5.4 intake, etc, etc.)

ok so im probably gonna stay 4.6 simply because of the cost, although i really would like to have a 5.4. but i want a bored/stroked 4.6...so i guess im not really gonna stay 4.6. but what kinda power could i make with like a 4v 5.1 or somethin?
