header pics, idle video and news

headers are done, finally got my car out of the header-jail and back to TPS for install and dyno tuning. Damn near had to bring the cops out before they'd come down to their own shop and let me have my shit.

Pics of the headers and a video/sound clip of it running right off the bare shorty headers:

still probably gunna sell it but I'll at least get to drive it once or twice first. If you turn it up so that my voice comes through at normal speaking volume you get the full effect. The audio quality of the recording was a lot better than I expected but only at high volume levels.

yep... the sound is actually off my modded frpp shorties , the longtubes will be on the car as of monday, then I'll do another sound recording and we can compare and contrast.

It's amazing what 5 grand buys you. Realize that my Saturn (commute car) and my headers cost the same amount of money.

unless they give like 60 or 70 hp i don't see how they'd be worth 2500 in any way at all...you could be cammed with ported and polished heads for that much...

the headers and all the install and tuning comes to around 5k. There's about a grand or so in that assorted stuff. The headers themselves make up the rest.

No. They're custom made by a shop that fields an American LeMans series race team. I was lucky to get them but the whole deal ended up leaving a sour taste behind.

see above.

nope. They're ultra expensive thanks to many factors but suffice it to say the project went almost 2x over budget. At least I have the quality to look at and be happy with.

I already have ported heads and cams and a built bottom end and lots more... I wanted everything that I could wring from the 2v heads when I started the project. FWIW, Dyno runs on other 5.4 2v's set up like just mine but with longtubes have seen 50-70 hp over what my car made at its first dyno shakedown run with FRPP shorties.

We'll see how it turns out later this week in theory.
