timing chain guides?

anyone ever seen a set of timing chain guides used up pretty hard? when i took the timing cover off, my guides were worn pretty bad. i talked to a local guy here that said his were the same, he know of a couple windsor motors like that also. we didnt talk too much about any of the romeo's.

oh yeah, guess who's got 2 stages of nitrous on order

Mine were worn pretty badly also (Windsor engine) when I disassembled it for a new rebuild. My engine had 90000miles on it; it looked to me like it could go for a while longer before it wore through to the aluminum guide arms, but since I was in there, I replaced all 4 (guides and tensioners). I was told to look for plastic crap in the oil pan from chewed up guides and tensioners, but I found nothing. Guess the wear occurs slowly and debris is captured in the oil filter.

97k hard miles on mine. i beat the piss out of it, but i stay on top of the maint. maybe a windsor thing?

the nitrous set up is unfortuanately all NOS, i cant beat the price of it. maybe i will sell it this winter and go with a different brand.

Should I change mine out while doing cams? My car is an 02 with 63k on it. What were the years for the Windsor/Romeo motor cars? I believe mine is a Romeo. Also, I have been told one of them had plastic guides the other were something else...any detail on that?

just a thought, but the windsor guides are made differently than the romeos.

could be that because of the different manufacturing, that it caused quicker wear patterns.

and RAGEman: i would replace them if you have the money.

The ones in my romeo looked really good at 70k. Not that it helps you much but just a little input for comparison of the wear of romeo vs windsor ones.
