Brake booster

If you have a leak in the brake booster or master cylinder, will it have an effect on the power steering system? Those systems are completely separate right?

When I turn my wheel, its making alot of noise and making my RPMs dive more than it ever has. Also, when I put the car into gear from an idle (with my foot on the brake) the RPM's dive 300-500 and gets damn near stalling. Now if I just put the car into gear without applying any brake, the RPM's dont dive at all.

Im so sick of this POS. I have multiple gremlins Im chasing around.

No. It's seperate. Check the fluid in your power steering and if the fluid is fine I would most likely suspect the PS pump is goin'.

Ok, I am convinced there is a problem in my power steering pump. Its failing. I think I have more than one problem at once and that is what is making this difficult.

I ran through my Haynes to help.
I did this "test" on the brakes to see if my master cylinder or hydro booster is failing.

With the tranny in nuetral, I stopped the engine and applied the brakes several times to deplete all the accumulator reserve. Then I held the pedal depressed and started the engine. If the hydro boost is operating correctly, the pedal should fall slightly than push back against my foot. Well, the pedal fell slightly and just stayed there NOT pushing back.

To see if there were any leaks, I had my daughter apply the pressure to the pedal while at idle and I sprayed a little carb cleaner (carefully) near the brake lines/master cylinder and booster. There was no change in idle at all.

Now, Im still getting the occasional lean codes in bank one and two.

Any thoughts on this mess????

I cant go buy a new car right now. I need to fix this thing. Believe me, eventually, I will get rid of it. All my problems started with these LT's. I need it right for awhile. Maybe by summer I'll be in a spot but for now, I need to try real hard to get this thing at least reliable.

Well, now that I have the LT's on with no cats its going to be hard to sell or trade. I still have a loan on it anyway, so Im stuck. Plus, its to the point now where I just want to BEAT this fucking thing. I want it to work right. I guess I dont know when to quit and never have. The challenge of the whole thing has gotten the best of me.
