Count your valve cover bolts, if its a romeo itll have 11, windsor will have 13/14

02 romeo. my valve cover on the drivers side has windsor on it as well.

I have no idea why ford would put 2 different motors in these cars lol there are more differences than # of valve pan bolts though.......

All you need to do to check which one you have is count the valve cover bolts. As for the differences there is more than just the valve cover bolts but thats the easiest way to tell.
Im guessing thats what your last post is asking? I had trouble understanding the first part. |

like I said, the valve cover bolts will tell you which one and thats the easiest way to tell. there are internal differences as well though

press on cam gears (windor), cam caps (romeo's have cam girdles), valve covers, oil fill location, main cap bolts

the reason there diffrent is because there was a fire in the romeo plant & production shifted to the windsor plant (where truck engines were being built at the time) there is considerable diffrences internally, but not really any externally (except valve covers, flywheels & waterpumps).

easier to say it my way IMO. 99-mid 01's had long water pumps & 99-mid 01's were windsors.

depends is the best answer for that question. as far as stock for stock & you had to have an answer I'd say windsor. other than stock, the windsor has a better block/crank/pistons & IMO the romeo heads are better (but there are better choices than both out there)

96-mid 01 were all long pumps, 96-98's romeo's as well.
