track on sunday

our track opens sunday and i'm gonna try to go! i've only gone once in my life and that was when my car was 100% stock, down to the tires. i ran a 14.14 my one and only pass. so, does anyone have any tips before i go? think i'll be able to break a 12.5? i'll most likely be running the 18's unless i magically scrounge up some et streets before then to mount on my prostars. i know my stock gears and 18's are gonna hurt me

Yeah. Get to know your car's best launch point.

Pay attention to everything. If you're lighting them up too much, try rolling on to the throttle instead of smashing it down. If it busts loose on a power shift, just try a regular fast shift....

erm....is your car stick or auto, can't remember?

Yeah, looked in your garage. Stick.

As I said, know your launch point. Leave on yellow, not on green. Try to anticipate when the green is going off.

If you light the tires up too much, try side-stepping the clutch instead of dumping it. But with stock gears and good tires you should hook all right, and not have a problem with too much spin, unless the track is a pos.

Know where your rev limiter is. Try not to bounce off it.

True that maybe he should get a roll cage that he can wear like a jacket.

Also, don't forget the obvious, Bob. Give the car a once over. Make sure everything is mechanically sound. Check the levels.

Thats just the cut off point.

13.99 You need a Helmet and maybe a driveshaft loop (someone clarify that for me)
11.99 You need a better seat belt/harness type deal.

11.5 you need a rollbar.. my goal is to be required to put a cage/bar in mine by the end of the season.
