x pipe question
Ok, so this 00 gt i baught came with flowmaster mufflers (guy didnt tell me what kind, but they got 3" ID tips) the pipe sounds alright, but i think it could sound better. Its just the muffler, what would i need to do to make it sound louder? Do i need an x pipe to make it sound louder? i would prefer a SLP loudmouth kit type sound.

Babumbumbum...
Exhaust has 3 major parts you need to look into - 1. Headers 2. Midpipe 3. Catback That's my way of explaining it. You have mufflers. If you have money start with headers. If NOT... you need to on and look into... hmm... a midpipe I'd probably say. A midpipe, H or X. Once you pick H or X you have 2 choices - Cats or no Cats. X pipes tend to sound a little more vicious, but more likely to sound rapsy if you combine them with certain catbacks (bar stock). H pipes ... I don't like. They do sound nice though with a good set of headers and a nice catback. Once you decide H or X, cats or no cats. Cats - Environmentally Friendly. Also... in many states their inspection will catch if you don't have cats. No Cats - if you live in a state like VA where they don't have emissions testing, no cats is the way to go. Much louders and more free flowing. After midpipe, move onto catback. I'd advise the SLP Loudmouth II. Personal choice. Mangaflow also good.

. So a SLP midpipe with cats is the way to go then? They need slp headers right? If not, what x pipe can i use with cats that work with stock headers.

SLP midpipe doesn't require SLP headers. I'd say get an SLP Offroad X, but if you MUST have the cats ... then go with .... hmmm an SLP catted X.
When you do go and get headers, the SLP ones are nice... but too expensive. Much cheaper headers that'll get the job done for less than 850. Here: (Entire LM II Exhaust, for your cobra) : http://www.americanmuscle.com/slp-lo...ack-cobra.html SLP X (Catted): http://www.americanmuscle.com/slpxc99.html Short X (If you get certain LT or Full Length Headers you need this one): http://www.americanmuscle.com/muslpshxc96.html

Go with a O/R Mid-pipe and you will hear a huge difference...

I had a o/r x and the rest was stock and it gave a nice rumble to it, but it really didn't get loud until I put on my SSS cat back exhaust. It has the same style as SLP, but for $350 shipped to my door and stainless steel as well. It sounds mean.

UPR is not bad...
But I would hold out for a Bassani Catted X-pipe...They are not cheap but they are the best IMHO... |

Ok, i have no clue what i wanna do. I already got flowmasters on there, but a new mid pipe is going to cost almost as much as a new SLP loudmouth kit does, should i just get the new kit or if anyone can find me one for a good price with cats that will be great too.

Never been a huge fan of the flowmaster sound, but whatever it sounded like before, it will be much better. Should be louder and have more of an open throat growl to it. Enjoy intimidating ricers before the light even turns green!
