Reverse is stuck
Yep stuck in, been having this problem a lot. But normally a slight hit would get it out. Searched and apparently it is a sheared pin or something like that? It used to happen with stock quadrant/adjuster. Then i got steeda one and never went away. Now it is stuck! I sat in the backseat and kicked it, and pushed on it hard with my foot. Nada! I thought i would kick my foot though the radio if i tried any harder.
Going to try and jack up rear end and see if putting it in gear and letting the tires/tranny spin will help unlock it. But i doubt it. It is reversed into my driveway against my house. Clutch engages and disengages just fine. What am i looking at here? Expensive fix? Bother with it? Hard to get it into first and second sometimes also, never grinds... just very hard to move it into gear (randomly). Never does it when it is moving though just at a stop light. Im running decent amount of power so i know it was only a matter of time... So i was going to tow it to my speed shop. Could i self tow it and hold clutch in? What would be max speed that you could go? wouldn't matter? Should i get the t-45 beefed up? Or t56 viper spec? I have rear end work that will be done at the shop anyways... so it wouldn't be an extra trip, would just do it all at once. Need shit welded, and i dont want to mess with internals of differential! So might as well have them do tranny as well.

Ryan that sucks. It's always something! If you are going to replace it, I would just do a 56 if you can. I should have done that when I replaced mine. Stupid stupid stupid and I kick myself for it now.
Anyway, when I got my new trans, I went with Jasper because they had a great warranty on the T45 and no one over at mustangforums.com answered my posts about the tranny. Big mistake going with Jasper. They are apparently good for engines and stuff but not to good for trannys IMO. I am on my fourth Jasper transmission. Reason being is they replace broken parts with in and send it out to you.....not your tranny but another they got in. I had problems with three transmissions they sent to me. Finally Mike at Jasper told me they were going to completely rebuild the entire transmission, all new internals. When they did that and sent it to me, it worked great. Have it in now and it is fine. Long story short, I would go with Promotion as well. Completely agree with Sweet on this......however, Jasper did hold to their warranty and was pretty damn good about making things right. So I can't fault them one bit there. I didn't pay one dime more than I originally did.

Yeah, go firgure. Get back from datalogging an awesome tune by joe, pretty damn close to fixing my issue. In a good mood and reverse into driveway... cant get it out! Sucks!
So I should check out promotional powertrain for a new tranny? I hear lots of good things about them! What about getting the car to the shop? Since i need to go there anyways, could i tow on the freeway with just holding the clutch in? Or somehow find backroads all the way there? Minus being stuck in gear towing would be easy, since car still turns on for breaks and power steering.

Cool Ill definitely try that first. Think i still need to look into a new tranny? Or get it rebuilt? That pin that makes it get stuck is usually not on the list of parts to replace im guessing?

Boy, this brings back memories
![]() I had a '72 Vega many a year ago and used to lose my 3rd gear synchro. It used to get stuck and had to replace it. I could disengage it via clutch, but would not come out. Come to think of it, I ended up frying the clutch on a Saturday night getting it going out of the mud. I could never get a clutch to work as well as that one did ever again. I am still pissed about it ![]() Jazzer
