they actually make a kit for cleaning your k&n filter man... its like 15 bux... u spray some kinda soap stuff on it and soak it with that, then you rinse it off good, let it dry completely and then spray it with this red oily stuff that attracks the dirt
works great! |

soak in the soapy stuff, rinse really good, then soak in the red oil and leave it alone, i like to spray the red on then wipe off all the chrome on my filter and put it back in... but i'd let it set for a lil bit before running the motor... make sure the filter is completely dry before putting the red oil on it, and make sure its dry when u put it back in the car!

ok yea i think the kit that have isnt the spray oil its the one you have to apply to each crack how long did it take to dry after the soapy stuff? and the hose goes on the inside of the filter washing out correct opposite of the air flow

Yeah, these guys got it^^^^.
Just get the kit, spray it with the cleaner. MAKE SURE TO LET IT SIT ON A BOX OR SOMETHING. That cleaner will ruin stuff, stain concrete. Let it sit for 15-20, take a hose and put it on the inside. Repeat as desired.. Don't get the kit that has that oil. Get the one with the spray can oil, thats a piece of cake. Much easier to get even. Just go to kragen, or autozone, or napa. They usually have them.

Doesn't really matter. I don't think you will notice any kind of gain, or decrease in power either way. Theoretically, if its more gunked up, it should let more air in. But the quality of the air is lowered. I like to keep it clean... so like 2-3 times a year? But its mainly so it doesn't look like someone took a shit on my intake.

takes the filter roughly 20 - 25 minutes to get all the water dried off sitting out side in the wind.
