high speed vibration??

OK guys tell me what you think, Last month I converted my rear end to 31 spline. Consists of 31 spline Moser axles, FRPP 31 spline T-Loc, FRPP 4:10 gears. Last week was when I got to finally drive the car. I have a Vibration that starts at around 65. It feels like a fine vibrations like pinion angle. Pinion angle and driveshaft angle check out good and the u-joints are fine. I had taken the steel dampener off. I put it back on and the Vibration was a little better. By guess is that its the driveshaft. In the Ford Service manual it says to mark the drive shaft and the flange so you can line them back up for balance reasons. I however did not do that. Anyone have any input?

ive heard that if you dont mark and line it back up youll be ok; then again if thats the case why would ford bother to say its necessary? and thats just what ive "heard"/read/seen posted by a few people

I really dont have any ideas for you

I ruled out the tires because i swapped them and its still there. ALignment is fine. If someone lived around me with and aluminum drive shaft i woudl try that but... no one does

Since you didnt mark it to realign it to begin with maybe try turning it 90* or whatever to where its aligned in a different position just to see if it gets better/worse. Sounds a little goofy but hell its worth a try considering the amount of time involved in doing it.

thats what i was going to try next. the driveshaft and flange both had yellow paint marks on them and i lined them up. I just hope one of my axle flanges doesnt have a little run out to it.

That crossed my mind too but I didnt think much of it considering you bought them new (i think) but you never know stuff happens. I guess that would be the next thing to check after the driveshaft. Id image if you got the yellow mark lined up though you should be good.

thats pretty weird, it makes sense the dampner cut down the vibration though

Actually I've heard tons of people getting bad vibration problems after doing gears. The remedy was a new driveshaft. I've heard this on threads and from people I've met time and time again.

Sounds like that's the problem. I'd probably go with that.

my car had a vibration like that at high speeds, (more like 90 plus) and it turned out one of the bolts on the transmission mount had striped the threads inside the bellhousing so it was just loose inside. Put a nut on the other side with a longer bolt to solve that little problem. =)

Well the alu drive shaft is an awesome idea, but just to cover something else, what are the odds that one of the axles is just slightly warped or something, causing the vibration?

since they are brand new i hope the odds are very unlikely, but you never know. Im not saying the drive shaft would cover it up, im saying that it might be the problem
