can an auto shifter(aftermarket) for an 05-08 work in my car?
i was just looking on jegs finding ways to waste money and was looking at the different automatic shifters. i was looking at the 05-08 streetfighter shifter that tci makes. if i just took the mount off for the shifter and put a boot over the shifter would it work? or would it not bolt up to the trans?? i had a b&m hammer shifter and sold it never got it installed, so looking for a shifter to lose the ugly stocker...thanks guys!!

i doubt it bolts up but i'm bored tired and recovering from a biggggg hangover haha i found a shifter art carr makes that doesn't look bad

b&m is the only resonable choice for aftermarket shifters with out hacking up the car or shifter or both. you can put a manual boot on the shifter & upr round style knob, which is acually a quite common mod & look's ok, if you must do something thats your best bet, IMO.

yeah that's what i was thinking and i knew my answer would be coming from you casper haha your the auto guru so i knew it was a matter of time....thanks man!!! i had the b&m hammer shifter had the 5 speed boot and all, plus a round knob...i know the only thing is i'd have to mount a switch for o/d and all but check out this art carr one and give me some input on it, otherwise i'll be ordering a new b&m shifter for the second time .

the problem I see with that shifter is that your gonna have to hack up the consol to even start to make it work, not worth it, IMO. with as good as the tranny's in these car's perform on their own I see no point in an aftermarket shifter, just put it in drive, shut off the o/d, & go. the car will alway's be faster that way (once set up propperly, IE. shift point's, shift kit, firmness adjusted, etc.) no matter what the "I shift manually" ass-clown's tell you. again if you must have a shifter, I say get the b&m (but I say spend the money else where, you must need something other that the shifter, how about shift kit, aluminum drive shaft, susp, etc?)

yeah i've got full susp. and looking to get shift kit very soon...i can't seem to find an alum ds for an auto all the ones i find are for manuals.

the frpp alum. d/s will work, just re-use the yoke off your stock d/s.
as far as shifters, i like this one myself... Mustang T-Style AOD Knob
