I was changing the air filter for a K&N filter and I noticed-

my engine was getting dirty. Especially around the coils and fuel rail.

Anyone think taking a high pressured water hose to my engine would be bad? I really want to Clean out the dirt and make it look presentable. D:

Any suggestions?

Yes. Its not a good idea to be spraying around the coils with a pressure washer. If it was me I prolly wouldnt even go as far as taking the time to fill up the air compressor and spray it down id just spray some carb cleaner on it and wipe it off as best I could with a rag. Who cares what it looks like unless its a show car or something.

what i have used on my 03 f150, 06 xterra, wifey's 02 mazda, and my 06 eclipse is regular engine degreaser when the engine is cool, let it sit for a few mins, and rinse with a MIST not a full blown wash but misting, and immediately after, start the car.

Yeah, getting the engine clean isn't on top of my list but it is something I want to get done.

I was just wondering if my idea was bad and what you guys think I should do lol.

*scratches water hose off the list and lists air hose and carb cleaner*

The engine degreaser sounds like a great idea. But I live on campus, so I dont have a hose available.

that sucks, i like it so much cuz it leaves a lil trace of oil behind, and leaves everything all nice and shiny, sometimes even orangy fresh.

Go to a car wash where you wash it yourself and see if they have the "spot free rinse" or whatever setting for the pressure washer. If so you could use that w/o a problem. Its just a very light mist.

The engine degreaser sounds like the safest options lol Thanks guys.

I will look for a car wash with a mist option. Maybe one of those wash n go have something.

Search fucntion... there is thread on here with great info and pics of cleaning an engine. It worked with simple green, a hose, and then I believe it was turtle wax foaming tire shine or somethin to that nature. I'm not sure who the OP was for that but everyone loved it.
