Wheel sanding

a kid I know has some black dd bullitts and 17x9s that he is looking to trade me for my OEM bullitts. He said the polished lip has spots on it, I'm assuming it's corrosion, is it possible to sand down the lip to remove the corrosion? I haven't personally seen the wheels yet

I think polished lip has a clear coat on it. It might just be the clear coat. I don't think sanding it would be a good idea..

If you sand it you will lose the clearcoat, so thats a no no. But if you wetsand it, it might come out. Depends how bad the corrosion may be.

Yeah the corrosion may be too deep.

you can get rid of the corrosion its self very easily but the pitting will still be there. You could fix up the pitting as well but then youd need to have them painted vs being polished.

If they are like mine it is aluminum so you can sand it down and clear them. ^+1 on the other hand try to wetsand, polish, and buff compound. Either way, you need to post some pics to be sure
