Transmission problem??? need help diagnosing the problem...

When i am in any gear, at a low rpm, if i go from 0% throttle to 25% in a quick blip (tap throttle) it sounds like my whole tranny is rocking back and forth and a loud clicking is occuring. I have a manual t-45. and a polyeurethane tranny mount. I installed the mount to gte rid of the rocking noise. but that didnt take care of it.

My throwout bearing is shot to hell. it is BAD. and my clutch catches about 3/4 of the wayoff the floor. bad, i know. maybe my clutch fork and thorwout bearing are so bad that its rocking from blipping the throttle? idk what to do. all that i know is it shouldnt do that. any thoughts?

thanks

Hopefully some others can also chime in, but a little bit of "rocking back and forth" is normal. You are driving a ford afterall

Do your clutch then see if it's still there.

Quick thing to check. Make sure your transmission crossmember is bolted all the way up snug! Right next to your o2 little tray things.

in nuetral or when driving down road? check u-joints. you will feel if it is motor or trans mounts in the shifter

^^^yeah thats the thing, its when i'm in gear, and i punch it on and off the throttle really quick, and then it feels like something down there is clicking back and forth (rocking motion) and it is coming from the tranny, but the tranny is not rocking back and forth at all. mount is tight. shifter doesnt move. maybe its inside the transmission?

hey, how do you like the driveshaft? Do you think it was worth it? Think im going to add one very soon....

ohh and you said you are getting an Al Flywheel. a guy at work told me that when ever you buy an Aluminum flywheel it is a good idea to buy a strong bellhouseing unit i think he said because if you ever blow your trans that flywheel will slice through the floor and cut your legs off. Just letting you know.

My trans goes back and forth too. I dont feel it move but it sounds like it. When ever i downshift and im in the wrong gear. Like 4 to 3rd at 30MPH. its probably normal. Like someone said above, we are driving a Ford.

it is the clutch disc that normally explode not the flywheel itself

there is not a mass produced sfi approved bell for the t45 as of yet, well i havent found one.

its always a good idea to get a sfi approved flywheel, wether going to an aluminum or not. i cant recall ever seeing an actuall sfo approved flywheel. more often times i hear of a flywheel coming apart before a clutch disc.

you sure its in the trans??? if you checked everything there, i would pull the shaft off the flange and check the rear end. turn the flange back and forth to see if there is play. i had an issue like this in my truck and the problem was in the rear end.

hmmm, i think within the next week i'll tear it apart and check the front of the tranny (clutch fork, play, TO bearing) since i need to fix that anyways. but by the rear end you mean where the lsd and gears and axles are? or the rear end of the transmission where the output shaft is.... i think thats where you mean.....(where the DS goes into the transmission. and if it is that then how do i fix the play..?

Check your rear control arms, my passenger side upper arm was loose and would make a noise when I blipped the throttle in gear....come to think of it, I heard it again tonight. Time for some new ones!!
