need a new starter or not?

SOMEtimes my starter goes very slow, like normally, it goes

WaWaWaWaVROOOOOM!!!

but sometimes it goes

WaaaaaaaaaaaaaWaaaaaWaWaVROOOOOOM!!!

So i assumed my starter's going out, and called someone to make sure.

So i went to oreilly's to pick up a new starter, but before i bought anything i asked the guy if it could be the Summit 25% underdrive pulleys i put on recently.

Maybe since the alternator's spinning slower it might not charge the battery enough at idle, so the starter moves slower.

But the battery voltage meter is still at it's normal position, around the halfway mark.

So is it my UDP's or is it my starter?

Does anyone else w/ 25% UDP's have this problem?

Can i get a smaller alternator pulley put in while keeping the bigger water pump and crank pulley intact?

well if it only happens sometimes and your battery is holding a charge then is most likely your starter. thats how it start. it gets slower and then it will bind. then you will tap it with a hammer and it will get better for a while then it will just die. replace it before your stuck. just make sure you test your battery and alternator with a multimeter first just to make sure.

my mustang seems to be doing something like that. it starts fine when i first get in it, but if i stop at a gas staion for a cup of coffe on my way to work it likes to take its time to start. it seems like it dosent want to start when its warm. ive had my stang for over a year now and its done it since i had it, so the battery and alternator is good probally the starter telling me something!
