Pilot Bearing....

All I can say is F%@& this mother f@&$in pilot bearing . I tried renting a pilot bearing puller and it just didnt have enough bite on the jaws, pretty much just chewed up the bearing part. Tried a slide hammer....chewed up even more. So now I have just the sleeve for the bearing stuck in the crank, and it wont budge . So any tips would be great. Im gunna have a beer and calm the nerves now

i used a recipricating saw and metal cutting blade. i cut threw one side being careful not to cut into the crank. then i used a flat head screw driver and a hammer. presto pilot bearing was out.

The metal the pilot bearing are made is pretty soft. A chisel will knock it out in only a few mins.

there should be notches on the inside of the sleeve so the puller can grip. did you make sure you lined the puller up with them? mine was a pain too.. i got it when i lined them up and put the slide hammer on the puller. you can also try using a propane torch and heating the crank slightly around the bearing. MAKE SURE YOU DON'T BURN THE REAR SEAL. if all else fails just chisel that bitch out of there.

Dude when I did mine I had the same trouble lol. I ended up getting a slide hammer and the end that is just a right angle hook fit in there pretty well after the pilot bearing puller effed everything else up. A few hits with the slide hammer and it came right on out lol. *Memory Note* Never use pilot bearing puller when trying to pull pilot bearing

Grease and clutch aligment tool....

Shove grease down inside the crank till it's coming out, take the pull end off the alingment tool and tkae a hammer to it. With each hit of the hammer add more grease.

chisel and hammer......

just using the search option to get the pilot out. the insides broke out of the bearing w/ a puller. left just a sleeve in the crank

You asking a question? This is like over a year old, but I didn't have any problem using a puller lining it up with the grooves.

nope, just showing that people do still use the search option prior to writing another threat about the same thing that's been covered 100 times

Way to wake me from my grave...but this method sucks, and is a last resort. Try the methods mentioned before...chisel + hammer sucks!
