widest tires for 9 inch rim

i picked up 2 17x9 chrome gt 500 rims for sale off of ebay for $75 and haven't found anything much wider. i have 2 315/35 nittos that i have from my old rims and want to keep the wide tires on the rear. whats the widest i can get on the 17x9 or does anyone know of a place that makes a wider gt 500 rim?

275 is a perfect fit for a 9in wheel, thats the way the stock termi's sit. you can go a little wider, but i wouldnt go but a 285, 295 max. a 295 will need to run a little lower air pressure for even wear.

you can fit any 275 tire on there. U can put 315's on if you go with nitto's since they run small.

275 all the way around for my 9" wheels, the front would be perfect flush with the fender if it were lowered, it jus looks like im ready to go off road, no more money into the 2v waitn for the 4v.

reason I ask is because I still have my 315/35 nittos left over from when I sold my deep dish bullits. I also have 265/35 from my buddies vette they are f1s but I would rather use the 265s for the front if I can save myself from buying more tires and have that look I loved with the wider tires in the rear but only if it works. you have done this and it runs good? I have heard that the tires sometimes hangs over the rim is this the case or is it pretty normal?

DUDE! they DON'T run small and a 315 is nowhere NEAR a proper fit for a 9" wheel

I am currently working with somebody from Tire Rack putting together a thread on the issues of oversized/undersized tires and the effects that they present. Every thing from poor wear, poor bead fitment and the strain applied to sidewalls that can lead to failure over time.

You pepes needs to be schooled

+1

It would be silly to trust anything wider than a 275/40 on a 9" rim!
