wheel fitment question 2004 gt
ok well i am looking at some wheels. 18x8 front with a et0 offset, and 18x10 on the rear with a et12 offset.now i am a wheel and tire sales man and i know a lot about offsets and wheels and what not.but the thing is i dont know my car. ive only had it for a 2 months now. ok so heres my theory most users on here run 18x9 with an offset of et24 on front and 18x10 et24 on back.now offsets are in MilliMeters,so i figure that an 18x8 with a zero offset will sit out as far as an 18x9 with a 24 offset considering the 24mm of offset difference compensate for the wheel width differance. and the back well i just like it to look a bit more agressive with a bit of a lower offset than the 24s were use to. so all in all the 18x8 with the et0(zero) should line up with the fender just as an 18x9 with a et24 would.anyone feel free to correct me if im wrong.
![]() Thanks,Ozzy |

if i am thinking correctly (i am drinking), the wheels will looked a little pushed out. the rear would probably just be set out like if there were wheel spacers, but the fronts is what i would be more concerned with. a lot of it is the type of wheel it is and how it was made. it may look just fine depending on the looks of the wheel.

![]() The off-set is measured from the center of the wheel, so a +24mm 9" wheel is going to be 1/2" wider in BOTH directions of an 8" wheel with a +24mm off-set. If you move an 8" wheel outward 24mm, you will essentially be installing a 9.5" wheel up front. A 9" wheel with a +24mm offset is as wide as an SN95 is going to take. If you add another 1/2" going out, I see you rubbing on fender. Having a little trouble getting my head around this, so see if this makes sense. I will come back and read it later and see if I can "see" all this better. Jazzer

jazzer just the man i was waiting for. ok so your statement makes sense. now in your case you are running 18x10s out front, what offset are those and did you do any body mods to fit those? would my scenario be comparable to yours? and FYI the wheels are mainly for looks and i dont mind the handling factor too much so i dont need a big wide tire up front only in back as i only go fast on the straights. thanks man.

I am able to run 10"s for a very specific reason as they won't fit your ride
![]() I am running a Griggs SLA front suspension and affords clearance that you simply do not have with your front struts. My front strut has been replaced by a coil-over shock and is tilted inward and mounted just above frame below the strut tower. I actually had a set of 9" wheels widened by way of 1" extra back-space. If you look ***HERE*** you will find a calculator for what off-set of what width wheel will equal what back-space..... What did Jazzer just say ![]() HTH Jazzer
