where to put the jack
what is the best place to jack both the front and back of the car up from? i think i have asked this before but i understood the answer less than the question. act like i'm retarded cuz i dont know what many of the bars and stuff under there are called.

put the kack under the front support beam on the fornt lock the rear brakes, then jack it up and put jack stands under each a-arm
then go to the bacl put the jack under the differentail jack it up and then put jack stands under the axle tubes and poff its on the air. to lower it just do it all back wards

the front support im talking about is right underneath the engine its big ya cant miss it.
the a-arm is whats connected to the wheels axle tubes are the things connected to the differential that are connected to the wheels in the back

so i should just put the stands pretty close to the wheels on the a arm and axle tubes? farther apart for stability. thanks man

well i did not know you had a cobra. im not sure where to put them on the irs in the back. someone else will have to chime in on that. but yeah you need t put em as far apart as you can so it will be more stable

well shoot, the rear is where i got confused cuz i can find pretty solid places in the front. oh well, ill ask on svt forums

I do it by the pinch welds. Its a unibody car so if you do it on the pinch welds, its still on the frame. If you don't know what they are... look at your side skirts and go all the way forward or backward depending on whether you are jacking the front of the back up. You will see little indexs about 2-3 inches long. It will almost look like it is where the inside part of the side skirt meets the frame.

when you do get it on stands kind of rock the car very slightly and make sure it's stable b/c you don't want to be working on it underneath the car and then it fall off the stands

A buddy of mine gave me his 1 1/2 ton jack stand about a month ago and when I went to jack of my stang it wouldn't fit under the front end of the car lol. I had to use the trunk jack from my Lincolnk Mark VIII to jack it up enough to get the big jack under there.

yeah on a lowered stang, a low profile jack is def a good thing. i cant hardley get mine inder the gas tank either to get to the differential. when on of my slicks had a flat i had hell. i finally went an bought a really low profile jack

Hmm... how much do those low profile jacks usually run, and do how much weight do they go up to? Haven't seen those in the store yet.
