I have a offset and backspacing question.

Ok first... what is ideal for our cars backspacing and offset for the front and back?

Second.... What is the maximum you can put on each?

I Kinda of want the rears to stick out a tad farther than the fronts, i've realized that you have to have a much bigger backspacing in the rear to accomplish this because of the front break clearance.

So what would be a good combination to accomplish the look i'm going for?

With the certain wheels i want to get. The Offset in the front is 30mm, and the rear is 45mm. Is that too dramatic of an offset for the rear?

There is no "ideal" back-space / off-set to get the look you describe with all wheel widths

I have a couple questions for you:

1. Do you want to run some super fatty meats?
2. What wheels do you currently run?
3. GOOD GOD MAN.... ARE THOSE THINGS REAL?

Head over to American Muscle and pepe the '99~'04 wheels and look at customer rides for particular wheels. This will give you a good idea of how they will look on YOUR ride. If you pick up a set of rear wheels with a 6.3" back-space or less (going to be 10"s or 10.5"s, you can do what I did and run a set of 1/2" spacers. This provided you run some longer/stronger lug-bolts to support them properly.

Keep in mind that the off-set is based on the center-line of the wheel in question

So if you have an 8" wheel with a +30mm off-set, the face of the wheel will be FARTHER under your fender than a 9" wheel with that same +30mm off-set.

Head over to ***HERE*** for a nice graph on this subject. Scroll down to back-space section.

Jazzer hopin' that helps to clarify

1. Yes sir, Only the meat with the most Grissel will be worthy for my ride.
2. I currently run American Racing Rebels. 18x9 fronts with a 25mm offset and 6" backspacing, and 18x10 rears with a 30mm offset and a 6.75" backspacing.
3. Yes they a real

With my current setup, The fronts stick out farther than the rears, it looks quite homo, but then again, many people like it... Kinda gives it a "Bulldog" stance...

They're Aluminum wheels with a chrome plating on them, and over the period of the 2 years i've had the car, they've pitted like a MO FO!

These are my favorite rims for a new edge, and its great cuz no one has em, but they're just pretty damn expensive lol... So idk if i wanna do em again.

Thanks

The "bulldog" look as you describe is pretty common. I actually have this worse than most due to the SLA I run up front. Do the following for an experiment:

Jack the rear of your ride up from the axle just enough to get the tire bearly off of the ground. Loosen the lugs 1/2" so the wheel will slide outward to the nuts. Step back and look down the side of your ride. I think you will be AMAZED how much better your ride will look with those rear wheels moved outward that 1/2".

If you like this idea, you will need to replace your lug-bolts as I did to safely run a 1/2" spacer. This requires pulling your axles and getting them pressed in, but worth it as I think you will see.

Jazzer.... pushin' silicone for the rear end

Yeah, i'm gonna try jacking it up and movin them out, thats a good idea.

If i pull the axles, i might as well just do the whole rear end lol, its time for a 31 spline anyways lol.

Do you have any rubbing/clearance issues with fat meats out back with the 1/2 spacers.

A little spacer can make a BIG difference in stance. My rear wheels are 10.5 and I have 315 nittos on them. But I didn't like how they sat in a little in the fender, so I put a 1/4" spacer on them and it sits flush with the edge of the fender. I love it

Make sure you post pics of how it sits when you're done

I did the same thing as Sinister, but run a 1/2" spacer and had my 10.5"s widened to 11"s

I had my fenders rolled, but zero rubbing.

Ha ha..... I actually had a thread started for over a week before I even knew it for exactly this thing....

Head over to ***HERE*** for some pics.

I will be riviving this issue soon in the videos section as I now have a nice new dig camera for 1080i video along with mount for front windshield. I did some testing yesterday afternoon and works fantastic.

Anyway, don't want to high-jack thread any longer, so stay tuned.....

Photobucket is broke jazzer

Actually I'm running stock studs right now. I just bought some extended nuts though. I don't want to replace the studs. I'll get to it. A little more unsafe, but its a compromise.

I have installed Moroso 46180 with link, courtesy of the following Tmac post. I needed to cut the starter portion of them off so they wouldn't bottom out on the studs. I HIGHLY recommend one remove the axles and have them pressed in as I did not and was a PITA!!!

WHOOOO THERE PARDNER!!!

If you are running studs/nuts you feel are unsafe in ANY way whatever.... what the hell are you doing???? Any "compromise" on your safety is not a good idea. Address this issue NOW before you lose a wheel merging onto the freeway on-ramp.

Yes, Photobucket is down and causing me some probs right now with my earlier mentioned link, as well as a cruise I set up in Marin County. Hopefully it will be resolved soon or I will need to upload to another photo site.

Interested...? PM me and will fire you off some details. It is in Marin County and starts just past the GG Bridge in Mill Valley on June 14th with 28 miles of pure twisty
