Nitto 555's at the track
I got 315 555's on the rear of my GT. I wanna know how ppl run them at the track. burn out? no burnout? smoky burn out? I just want them to hook.

mine grabbed at 26 psi no burnout, hell i could do one. guess the track was prepped really well. with normal air in them i could do them all day. But i also dont have gears at all.

well last time i had it at the track, launching between 2500-3000 rpm was about it. anyting above 3000 they would spin. that was with stock gears and just a lil spin out the water and on to the dry.

I have 555's and they seemed to grab about the same with a burnout, if not a tiny bit better. i just went ahead and left out the burnout from there on out to save rubber.

Drag Racing
Making Your Mustang Hook, Part 1 A common mistake we see at every drag strip we go to are racers doing burnouts in the water box with their treaded D.O.T. tires. Excessively heating a street radial can actual diminish its ability to provide traction. Many of the treaded "sticky" tires like the Hoosier Quick Time and MT Sportsman Pro will do a little better when hot. But the problem is that a treaded tire will carry water with it up to the starting line in between the treads no matter how furious the burnout. Even a small amount of water on the starting line will send the stickiest tires up in smoke. So if you're racing with a set of treaded tires, try and avoid the water box. You'll most likely hook better, and racers behind you will be much happier.

well I went to the track last night and they performed pretty well. first pass was a 13.55 @ 102 with a 2.0 60'. just did a lil burnout out of the water. second pass was 13.50 @ 102 with a 1.95 60' did that same lil burnout but launched a lil harder. last time I smoked em and spun hard off the line ran a 2.1 60' and didnt get a time slip. (damn printer i guess) but I was hoping for a 13.5 and got it so I am happy for now.

best i could do was a 2.19 60ft. thats with a torque arm and panhard bar too. but they are 265/35/18's with 400hp to the wheels so i was spinning to the 330 cone.
