I might buy a Cobra.

So, as much as I love my Mustang in all it's glory, I might buy a Cobra. Mostly because I crave the power that they have, the power that a 4V can handle, and because of the pretty sweet deal I just found locally.

There's a local guy where I am that is selling his "03 Cobra". I say it that way because it was originally an '01 V6 that was turned into an '03 Cobra. Only the seats, straight axle 8.8 rear, and the VIN remain.

It has: '03 supercharged cobra motor with 15k miles, MAC ceramic long tube headers, MAC prochamber, Flowmasters, Tremec 3650 5 speed with short throw shifter, 3.73 gears, Cobra brakes, 295x35x18 rears and 245x45x17 fronts, lowered springs, pillar gauges, Dynamat throughout, synthetics throughout. I test drove it and it felt and sounded awesome.

It was built by a local shop, MAS racing, who I definitely trust so I know the job was well done. He said right now with the 12 lb pulley that is on there right now it dyno's at 468 hp. He also has a 24 lb that comes with the car.

So, I'm thinking, the 8.8 rear on it is actually better to have than what came stock on the '03 Cobra, right? Having the VIN as an '01 V6 is nice for insurance too (you didn't hear me say that).

I'd like to hear some input on my buying this car, what some of you guys think of it. Also, if anyone is interested in buying my car, let me know. You can see it in my garage. I threw it on craigslist for shits and giggles:

FYI I would DEFINITELY get those rims painted black. I hate the red rim look. I don't like the side skirts either, I would replace those as well.

It's not that I can't find a real Cobra, they are easy to find, but always very expensive.

He listed it for $17,500 but told me when I went to look at it and test drive it that he would take $16,500.

I would sell it as is. I can't afford to have payments on three cars and a boat. Two cars are managable. My mustang right now is my toy car, and the Cobra would be too if I bought it.

just my opinion but i wouldnt sell your car for that. alls you need is a power adder. you have a ton of work done to your car. a blower and you would be right there with that car. i think you would regret it in the long run.

I actually think he would be in better shape then that car if he put a poweradder on it...

When you do a swap like what has been done in the V6/Cobra you can and will run into alot of gremlins...

Ditto that. If you really have to have a Cobra, get an original one. A converted V-6 car is going to have teething issues.

well Sean from MAS did the swap and i was there for most of it, it was a very clean swap and there was some bugs in the wiring harness to work out but Sean took care of it all. But i still think i would wait and try to come up with a little more money and buy a real 03 cobra, cause you can find them for about 22k in some places
