Question

ticking noise

so i have a problem with my car....a couple weeks back my exhaust started making a sound like an exhaust leak...i thought it had a leak on the passenger side head and i already had bbk headers ready to go on so i changed them. put it all together and the noise is still there so definately not an exhaust leak. i really wanna know what it is cause the noise is coming from the passenger side header at the rear. i think its a burned valve but i'm not sure. any clue what it could be??

mine makes all kinds of ticking noises. hell, one of the noises will get really loud then suddenly stop as if it were on an on/off switch. Ive given up trying to figure out what they all are. Injectors can always be heard, and I have an exhaust leak from the drivers side collector

DUDE - check your spark plugs immediately! These windsor engine cars will spit a plug in a heart beat - sounds just like an exhaust leak.

+1 on the plugs. Mine ticked then blew out a few hundred miles later.

I would raise the car have someone to start it and rev it while you are under so will notice from where exactly is coming.. just my 2 cents, I have the same problem but mine is between the manifold and the y pipe.. lol

i did that at least 4 times and it sounded like the header was leaking from the manifold....i found the problem, 2 rear plugs on passenger side were loose....if you have this sound its worth the time to check it. thx 2KGT

Go to an exhaust shop, they usually have stethascopes that can pinpoint the noise. At least that way you know where to look.

Good thing you got them before they blew. Check your plugs with every oil change!
