315/35/17 Nit5's on 17" option GT?
potential to get these tires, but wondering if they will fit on the 99 GT's 17" option.
i am told by the seller that it is advised to have 9-10/11" wide rims, but I do not think the 17" rims are in that width range. any information would be awesome. ps: i did search, yet everything was 335 or a 'fake' result (may have been on a subsequent page into the thread, but the search term was not on the immediate page when clicked on). not sure how it will feel with the 245/45/17's on the front, but i just need a set of tires for a month or so, before getting new rubbers. |

well, i know a few who've run nitto 315's on the stock rims, but they bulge. if it were me on stock rims i'd run a 275 at most.

Please do NOT install a 315 on a stock wheel
![]() This is a poor fit and waste of a 315, IMO. Aren't the stock wheels 8"? If so, I recommend you stick with 245~255 for a proper fit. If you want 315's..... get a 10.5"> wheel. Jazzer

i think even a 275 on a stock wheel is pushing it, like jazzer said stick with a 245 or 255

I would toss 245's up front and 275's out back max. 275's will fit up front as well but you may rub lock to lock if you are dropped any. Don't run 315's on a stock wheel.

^ I have never seen any wider than a 275 approved for a 9" wheel
![]() I think this is still a bit wide and think a 265 is a better fit. Jazzer

i think 275's are the biggest that will fit w/out it bulging. i have 275/40/17 on an 8" stock rim and they fit perfectly IMO.
here's a couple of pics so you can see how they look. |

I've seen plenty 315 555's on 17x9" rims...
But everybody keeps saying 555s run (or ran) smaller than usual?

Alas, I believe I have 17x8s, so it is pretty much a no-go (although seeing what it would look like might be interesting..) |

Get some 275/40/17 nitto 555 drag radials and you should be fine. I had some 275 eagle f1s on the back and they were too wide. I hit a bump or pothole or something and the tire came off the rim and ihad to drive on it for a short while. 275 is the widest you can run with 17/8 rims, and as I found out, it's still not the best idea. Nittos are not as wide as advertised and look like a much better fit.

Why make it harder, when a simpler solution exists? Although, there are the issues of different models and associated clearances, if they want to get that detailed, which may cause a big thread, because of lowering vs. stock height, spacers, et cetera. But still, it would be a valuable resource. |
