Most people will say around 400-450 crank hp for the whole rotating assembly. I don't know what the limit of the crank itself is though. Also depends on the RPMs that you run it.

450 to be safe. Buy a cobra crank (kellogg) if you want to stay 4.6. If you want to stroke it, get a stroker crank

The crank in my 01 Cobra can handle a shit more than the rods can. The weak link in the 4.6's (excluding 03/04 Cobra's) is the rods/pistons (but mostly the rods).

i always thought it was 450 for the rods and pistons... you'd think the crank woould hold more hp than the pistons and rods?

I've been told 1000 hp for the block, 600 hp for the crank, 450 hp for the rods/pistons, and 600 hp for the intake.

Eh, yeah here and there...for a 4V (non 03/04). On a 2V I wouldn't run past 400-425hp.

The block isnt anything different from a Terminator block so it hold about as much hp as you can through at it. The rods are weak at 450ish, the cast crank is weak at 600ish and the pistons are weak at 500ish hp. If you have any doubts just look at the MMR website and see what they spec for parts and pieces. They use a cast crank on the MMR 600, and a forged crank on the MMR 800. They still use the same cast block that every GT was biult with.

Again as stated. Your weakness is basically the rods.

Is the weakness of these motors in the rods?

I would say so. I dont know if I would push it anymore than that on a cast crank. Seriously though, if your in there, do the crank. Then theres no limit so to speak. You will run out of money before you get to the point of break a block. I would really think hard about going ahead and buying a crank to, because if you get to the point of needed one, your going to spend all that money again on labor to change the crank. 700 is alot but worth it when considering how much its going to cost to swap out that cast crank to a forged one.

MMR is rating that setup you are talking about at 600 crank hp. Thats forged pistons, I beam rods, and cast crank.

According to MMR and others 600 is the limit on a cast crank, but you also can't rev it to the moon either. Your best to be safe and do it once by getting a forged crank and call it a day.
