17's or 18's?
Should I get 17's or 18's FR500's?? My car is lowered is like 2 inches. 17's look so short in pictures but 18s look too big for a mustang, id rather have the extra 1/2 inch wide with the 17s but i dont know if they are tall enough

You can run up to a 9" & 10.5" set of wheels with either:
275/35/18" & 315/30/18" or 275/40/17" & 315/35/17" What are your driving needs? Jazzer

18's definately look better, in my opinion, but I agree 17s are better for performance. I definately lost a little turning radius too.

I would go with the 18's and then buy you some spare drag wheels or just put a 275/40 mt et street on your stock wheels and just switch them out when you go to the track.

Well here's what I'm going to say to this debate...18's are expensive tire wise. 17's aren't bad tire wise.

I'm happy I went with 17's. I don't want bigger wheels

I had the stock 17 at first the went to the 18's. Went back to the 17's and love them! Price wise they were less expensive and tires were way less. The ride quality is so much better now, I really didn't notice it till I went back to the 17's.
The 18's look a bit better and I mean only a tiny bit better. IMO why spend all that money for tires and rims for only looks... when you get looks, better ride quality, and performance with bit smaller tire. To each their own. Good luck in your decission and either way it will look good |

the price jump for tires from 17" to 18" is around 100$ per tire. are you prepared to pay this? lol

IMO. I love my 17's (just want wider ones), I would like to get a set of 18's (mostly for show). If you plan on getting some tires for the track, get the 18's. I think they look good (pending some rims), I love the look of the FR500's. But like a few others have said, tires for 18's are going to cost you more then for 17's, and 17's will be better for the track. What ever you do, make sure to get 10 or 10.5 wide rear rim. You'll get more bite of the tires and will have a bit more fun driving around.

Put you know what, they are supposed to last 40k miles and so wont be replace any time soon. 18's look a lot better IMHO but if you really car about your car performing to the best, take it to the track, or just race in general go 17's. edit: those were 245/45/zr18's |

Honestly, I think 18's even look small. Now beleive me, I am NOT advicating this big wheel trend when I say this, but I have seen some 20's even look good on New Edges. I have 18's on mine, I think it is almost a perfect size. If 19's were not so damn expensive I would put those on the back. They are heavy as fuck, but my car is already heavier than Rosie O'Donnel, so who cares. I have my stock Cobra wheels for the track if I decide to go.

Id say 18s, you can pretty much run the same width tire on a 10 or 10.5" wheel. Only bad thing about 18s is tires run about $100 more a piece.
