Shelby gt500

I was coming from picking my car up from the Sheehy dealership (thank god its fixed) & I decided to drive through the car lot to see what they had out. To my surprise I see a white with blue stripe 07 Shelby GT500 with a sticker of only $43,695. the dealer said that they won't mark it up either. Does that mean the outrageous markups are starting to cool off a bit?

they were going for $74,000 in late december in Wilimington, NC 's capital ford....I would never buy one for that even if I was a lotto winner, you could build such a better car for so much less.....lets face it a lot guys out there have GT's that would run all over one of those.....you would feel pretty shitty getting beat by a five year old GT....

(or maybe I'm just mad I can't afford a car like that!! hehe)

although 43,000 I could somewhat justify that maybe if i had the money ....

i wouldn't buy one either, especially for those prices. i'd rather have a terminator, hands down. yeah, the retro body style is cool and it bears the name carrol shelby, but it's just too damn heavy. put the shelby (and all s197's for that matter) on a serious diet, and i might change my mind.

Was it used? Maybe it was a repo or it was a lease that was in an accident. Sometimes you can find odd deals if you're in the right place at the right time. Don't expect to find Shelbys at that price all the time though. LOL

Dont knock the new Cobras'...I know a guy ready to retire that passed up the 05 and 06 GT for this thing, its a beast. 70 mph in first gear that RIPS into 2nd and takes you well over 100mph by the time you shift the short thrower into third...even in triple digit mileage he said he can STILL feel those wheels wanting to grip the road and burn. I think this thing'll be kicking the ass of the new Charger AND Camaro in the next few years. 400+ plus HP does'nt mean much if it takes you too long to put it out...

The new Camaro and Charger won't be going for 50k though....

the GT500 with only another 5 to 7 K invested in it will run in to the 9's on pump gas... True it needs a diet, but it still looks pretty cool, and stock 12'swith modded 9's.... thats bad ass...

idk if anyone has read up on the march 2007 mustangs & fast fords magazine but they did a write up on the first GT-500 to reach 9s
that car is disgusting. when they first got the car it ran 13s!!!! 13.1 to be exact. then after aluminum driveshaft, adjustable shocks and struts and upper and lower control arms it hit 12.6

they then put DRs, full suspension upgrade, x pipe, borla cat back, CAI, a tune and then reached 500rwhp and ran 11.81 @ 121
THATS SAD! and rediculous

so the then got JLT CAI, 2.6 uipper pulley and got 13 psi with 563rwhp and 562 rwtq. they then did more suspesion work and quess what they ran. a time of 11.08 @127, and after afew more runs made a best of 11.06
that is the saddest presentation of 560+rwhp and tq ive EVER SEEN aside from trucks

they tune the car ore and had it to 578rwhp and 582rwtq
guess what they ran after that awsome amount of power gained 10.99 at 128

as if this isnt sad enough they did more
headers, new pulley(2.5) hitting 14psi and pulled 615rwhp and 646rwtq on the dyno.. they then got 15 inch Bogart rear wheels and slicks!
what did they get?
10.44 @ 134.22 mph.
over 600rear wheel hp and even more torque and they ran that...this car isnt worth any time or money. better off laving it stock and selling it in 50years.
they got an even lower pulley and a 75 shot of nitrous and then ran 9.996 @ 141.45
they're going to drop in a KB in it later

my outlook they must of spent over 7k easily before they ran 9s
this is a tunning and performance business...they know what they're doing and this is all the GT-500 gave us
IMO this is the WORST mustang ever built for it price and wieght and power vs its times.
the looks arent even that appealing vs a GT

I WOULD NEVER EVER GET THIS CAR. if someone gave it to me i'd sell it before i could drive 20miles in it.
the terminator had a much better plat form then this and ran much better time for the hp it had vs the GT-500

after readin this article no one can ever convince me that the GT-500 is the best mustang or faster mustang ever made. not even FORD

This is a lot of slander for a pretty awesome car... Ive driven an 06 GT and that thing had twice the feeling of raw torque that I feel in my 2000 GT... That being said the 06 GT has 300 HP... 07 Cobra has 500... I can only imagine how much fun that is to drive... Finally this is coming from a V-6 stanger who on a good day might get 225 at the crank? I dont see how you can complain about this car...

I have been reading the same article about that GT500. He's right, it's pretty disgusting that a car producing 500hp from the factory in stock trim couldn't outrun my Mach with only a dyno tune and 4.30 gears. I was really disaspointed in the car after reading this article. It took them a ton of work to get the car to be this fast. I know that I only paid ~25k for my Mach, 2 years ago, and I'll bet you won't find a shelby for that price after only 2 years and 19,000 miles.

one of my builders that I work with here in Hampton has one. I am still trying to get him to bring it out and possibly let me drive the thing.

who cares what i drive moron...this is in an ARTICLE THAT I DID NOT WRITE!!!!!!

i hate v8 owners like you

i can give you a site with 9 second and 10 v6 mustangs so shut up about v6s

this is about GT-500s, and the difference between a new edge and the s197 GTs is maybe .5 of a secondso twice the power? i guess youve driven one car your whole life

the GT-500 is a HORRIBLE 500hp car.
joe's GT had a little over 400hp and can mid 11s. it'll smoke a GT-500 with 100hp missing

the car is one of the heaviest mustangs produced. i believe its around 4,000lbs or a SLIGHT bit less
we made fun of the GTO but this GT500 vs a GTO i bet would be a good race if not the GTO would win if it got an extra 100hp

i know i read everythign twice...i couldnt believe it. i thought it'd run low 12s (stock) for sure...maybe after a few miles but still...all those mods and finally hitting 9s after nitrous, numerous pulley upgrades and TONS of suspesion work.
when i first heard about the GT-500 i was excited as hell. then i hear bout the c6 z06 beating it all around and i get a lil upset...i see the car and its not too special looking either but the stats APPEAR nice...then i see it run..its w/e

i read this and i was just dissapointed all together....that car IMO is NOTHING its cracked up to be, at all

All GT500s in Wisconsin are $45,000 or less and have been since day one.

Does anybody have a link to this article on line? I have a friend that thinks the GT 500 is the Holy grail. I'd like to send it to him. LOL
