Check you IAC Cable hookup, the IAC should be bolted to your throttle body somewhere. I left mine undone after cleaning one day and it sounds like the same thing. Or could just be the sensor gone bad, or lots of other things i dont know much about cars.

its most likely your IAC, it probably has to be cleaned.

classic IAC (IDLE air controller/thingy)

Controls how much air gets to your engine when you are not mashing the gas.

Basically, some gunk starts closing the small clearances between the IAC valve edge and the solenoid stuff which slows/stops the valve from working, which in some cases will stop working in the closed position, and will not deliver the necessary amounts of air, causing stumbling and stuff, eventually turning off the car, if not mashing the gas around idle rpm.

on the topic of air.. i played around with something the other day.. the lil box just before the t/b that i belive goes into the IAC. its just a hollow box.. right.. i took it off. and the car dosent run hahahah put it on runs fine.. who woulda thought a empty box about 2 inches long could cause such a problem lol just a fun fact

Yeah when you pull that off the air is not drawn from your intake, so the maf doesn't read any air. Your car needs air measured by the maf.
