RPM's & Springs

I have a 2004 Mustang GT convertible (standard).

1) In 5th gear, in cruise control, it drops out at 1800rpm's. Does this mean I should not drive my car below 1800 rpm's? So what is the lowest rpm's I can drive it out without harm to the clutch.

2) I have also invested quite a bit of $$ in my sound system. I have no spare tire or jack. Just amps, subs, battery, etc in the trunk. There is some weight there. I am bottoming out where before the sound install I did not. What do you recommend? Stiffer springs? Also, if you could specifically let me know what type (brand) I should install that would be great.

*** I am a novice...but you folks are great in these forums for help. THANKS!!

1) Why would you try to drive your car below 1800 RPMs? Maybe I'm misunderstanding the question, but I've never known anyone that tried to drive thier standerd that low unless they were going to down shift or come to a stop.

2) You might try stiffers spring or Ones that sit a little higher. Although I'm sure you know that will hinder the performance and handling of your mustang with all that extra weight. The good news it will help your back tires get better traction. You might also try a bigger tire on the back than the front. (Like 17" on front and 18" on rear) Give your car that old school muscle car look. Post some pics of your stang in your garage. I'm curious to see what your stang looks like. Do you put it in shows?

i've completely ruined a clutch and pressure plate driving at a steady uphill grade to low in the powerband in high gear.. i would not recommend it.. However in cruise control your motor should automatically adjust and cruise at the right rpm depending on what speed you're at. id keep it above 2300 just my 0.02

as for weight? you must have an assload of equipment back there if you're actually bottoming out?
