Getting Really Fed Up ...Noise Problems

Alright people i really hope you can help me out here . im not looking for people to bash me or anything else i just want some help from you guys/ ladies ,,,,Alright so about to months ago i did a gear install this is my second one but this is my first i did all of the work on. I used AJM write up cause it covers everything pretty clear so i dont forget crap . So the gear install went pretty good except i broke an Abs sensor but i replaced it. When i went to put on the passenger side caliper on it acted funny as if it didnt fit right like the piston kept backing out, so i through the wheels on and drove around, it seams like i do have a tad gear whine but only on deceleration but its not that loud its very quite to hear. But i turned right and it sound like a massive grinding sound on the brakes but only from the passenger side.
So i have been driving around like this for awhile now and cause i thought it was the caliper acting funny and i saved up some money so i could do the brakes and replace the ps caliper.
So i was doing the brakes today and the passenger side caliper went on really smooth like it should and i put new brakes in on both sides obviously and the brakes on the ps were pretty much shot especially the inner pad .
So i put my wheels on and went for a drive and took a right turn the grinding sound is still there along with the hum ( it hums after you go straight again for like 5 seconds almost like the pad is re setting itself but then the hum is gone ) so if i drive straight or make a left hand turn there is no noise what so ever so this has me stump ... i hope i dont have to tear into the gears again ... i might kill myself cause its one thing i dont like doing. so if anyone could help me that would be helpfull ... and if you think of the way to fix the problem and it works reps will be given for sure

Pull the wheels off and check the axles for any play.

Noise on deceleration usually means insufficient pinion nit preload.

wheel bearings? put it on stands and run it to see if you can hear it, or go in circles and have someone pinpoint it for you. Just remember...SAFETY FIRST

There should be no up and down play at the axle, and just a c-hair of in and out play.

Well, usually there will either be the proper amount of play, just a small amount, or you will know something is seriously wrong, like the bearing is completely torched, or you forgot to put a c clip on in the dif. lol

The only other real possibility is a broken axle, but obviously that would be catastrophic and the car wouldn't have moved very far.

thanks zip ... ok i went out there and jacked the car up and there is a lot of play on the passenger side and some on the driver side that isnt as much as the passenger but seams like more than a c-hair lol and i dont think i forgot a c clip lol ... ( well lets hope not) so if its the axle bearing should i just do both then so i dont have to dig into my diff again lol

odds are even if you forgot the c-clip or it fell out during assy. the axle will not come out. the brake caliper will hold it in. pull the caliper and then check your play to be sure it did not fall out

This sounds like exactly what happened to me when I installed my first set of gears. Only happens when you turn right without giving it any throttle? Open the rear end up again, and I bet you that if you push hard enough you can move the carrier back and forth. When I did mine I got back lash, and everything set, but couldn't tell it was going to move (not enough shims) cause you really have to give it a good push back and forth. So first off I hope you didn't throw away your extra shims. Second just get some more fluid, and some more RTV, and reopen her up. When I did it I had it done in like 1 hour cause I knew what to inspect, even getting back lash correct again after adding in more shims. Also does there seem to be any play in the drive line even with the clutch in?
