Really weird gear whine all of a sudden

So yesterday with my friends in my car i dropped it into 1st going like 25-30 and dropped the clutch and i heard a loud cracky bang noise. my idle dropped if i didnt give it gas so i pulled in my driveway and popped my hood, and my intake opened up in the middle, stupid JLT. so i fixed it and tightened the shit out of it and now it runs perfectly fine, but i have used gears and they whine, but before they used to just make a constant whine sound while in neutral or in gear without accelerating, but now they whine, but its really choppy and weird. instead of making a constant "errrrrrrrr" noise, its like... "er-er-er-er-er-er-er-er". any idea what the hell happened, and if its bad?

did you replace the bearings in the rear end when you had the gears installed?

that almost sounds like what happened to me in my Trans Am just after I bought it. i chipped some teeth off the ring gear and it quickly became undriveable. take it to a shop.

you are gonna need a new ring and pinion set if it is whining with a pulse, and the whining is bad because the ring and pinion angle is off, that means the the gear will wear down fast and hense the broken teeth, may as well but new gears and go from there....

i would say you can get away with it but may end up screwing up your differential while driving around, i would swap the stuff asap, and dont buy the gears used...
