Drilling out scoop on stock 99 gt hood

Do you think it would be a good idea to remove or drill out the holes in the plastic hood scoop of the 99 mustangs? or would it create drag? im asking because with age they have become light gray and its just horibly obvious that its fake

it would be bad to drill it out.. easiest thing to make it look nice again is go to http://www.ssinserts.com/ and get a replacement... its solid so it doesnt have the cheap fake honey comb look to it...

that or just spray paint it black again, no need to drill the holes out it will not do anything for ya but get water in your engine bay

Re: Drilling out scoop on stock 99 gt hood

Ive heared that if you make our fake cowls functional they will not support the extra drag put on them and will fly off the car randomly. Which would be pretty funny imo but wouldnt look too cool afterwards. Just buy a new hood...

I thought about it long enough to pop the hood and see that the under-hood insulation covers it. Yes, that could be cut too, but not worth it... You could reduce under-hood temperatures but it won't make the car any faster, the thermostat still controls engine temp and the blow-through will only make the engine dirty and wet -rain will phugg it up.
