Track car update with pics
well the 35th anual mid america meet is here and its hot really hot wedsnday was 100 degrees we heard it was 105 today humidity is about 75 to 80% typical NE Oklahoma weather for ya.
Anyway you guys might have read about our experminet with the cobra IRS in our 01 gt track car for those that dont know heres the set up Qa1 K member and tublar control arms, MM coil overs all 4 corners, Stedda Bump steer kit, Cobra brakes with Brembo pads up front and hawk in the rear (the hawks sent for the front were to thick in the kit the brembos fit perfectly) SSBC rotors all around, 03 Cobra Irs with diff brace and polyurethane everyhting, dot 4 super blue race fluid, BBK CAI, Acufab TB, Mac headers, BBK x pipe and Flomaster delta force serries ten mufflers (they sound so bad ass its unreal). Thats the basics anyway dyno showed 254 HP at the rear wheels 310 at the crank and 296 ftlbs at 4600 RPMS so not what he hoped for but not bad for a basically stock 2V with a few minor mods the car weighed in at a suprising 3476 lbs with out the driver now this car has a 6 point cage halon system 22 gal fule cell (full at the time) and crash support every where so that pretty damn good i thought Anyway yester day was testing and feeling her out today was droping hamer and see what she could do. We are having problems right now with tires we never had grip problems before on street HP tires but its so hot were losing them afte about 5 laps and slowing to the point we have to cool down. The brakes are awsome and holding up great the motor seems to be happy as well which in this heat was worring me greatly but it seems to like it so oh well we got hoosier slicks going to be at the track first thing in the morning so that problem will be gone The IRS is a dream its letting us enter go through and exit the turns a heluva lot faster than last year and if it wasnt for the low power we would be one of the fastest things on the track. There was a pantera out there today that would walk us on the straight but by turn 3 we were filling his mirrors a couple GT500's got passed by a 01 GT 2V that was cool to watch (of course there was professional driver in a rental fusion that was making fools out alot of pepole also driver skill plays a big part) So anyone who says the IRS isnt worth it for road racing can kiss my ass why have the proof we shaved 5 seconds off or lap times with this set up last year it was a live axel with panard bar and torque arm eibach springs and builstines so it wasnt just stock to let you know Now i will say this we are going to weld and plate the rear IRS subframe brackett and replace the polyurethane IRS subframe bushings with sold steel inserts welded the IRS subframe then bolted to the car cause even with polyurethane were twisting the subframe coming out of the corners full throttle its not hurting us just a little anyoning it feel like the car is trying to twist the sheet metal up but its just the subframe defelection (i suggested this but the driver and owner wanted to see how well it worked before i went welding on it there all for it now) Anyway there are some amazing cars at this event amazing racing its hotter than all hell (suposed to reach near 109 tommorow) but our car is handling better than any mustang i have ever driven and its appears to be ok in the heat the heat is preventing me from drinking which is kind of pissing me off since i got cold budwieser wating on me but im forced to water cause its so hot. if your in the area come by hallett motor speed way the Mid america shelby meet look us up we got the ornage 52 car in a trailer next to the bleachers over looking the turn they call the bitch have a beer and BS for a while anyway heres a couple pics of the car ![]() ![]()

well it was a great event if i missed anyone sorry. We had major issues friday the car some how melted the IRS bushings in the lower control and the subframe we dont know why or how but we had pepole crawling under the car all day friday to see the freak show.
Prothane is getting a nasty call from me tommorw. Our Best time was 1:40 which is only a second off our mark for 1:39 and if the bushings would not have done that we would have hit our mark Now for Hallett 1:40 is respectable for any car for a GT pony its fast and we still got more to give her. She is getting some major HP very soon and all Aluminum bushing set (was my suggestion from get go maybe they will listen to me now) We plan on alot of HST evernts at hallett and the Terlingua event in texas Basically though we all LOVED the IRS biggest advantge is hallett is not a smooth track its old well taken care of but old and all the bumps and track wear in the corners that was slowing us down last year cause the ass would try to hop around we didnt even feel this year which let the driver hammer on her more on the turns there best time last year was 1:45 they shaved 5 seconds off so im saying go IRS it rocks well maybe not for dragracing but road course it rules heres a link to our home track Hallett Hallett Motor Racing Circuit as soon as were doing editing the video i will post it

Nice write up on the IRS.
My car, although a work in progress, is set up for road course. However, the rear end is 100% stock. I was considering a 5 link 2, but at 1100 bucks... I may just lean towards the IRS. Many guys down here often are looking for a trade... I may consider this now. I drive mostly at Homestead and Moroso (pbir). 5 seconds off would put me right where I want to be. PS... Love your car!!!

The "My GT" license plate reminds me of the Boss on "Office Space" with the blue Porsche that had the license plater "My Porsche"
