Tubular K members.
Ok. Well i'm looking into the market of tubular K's, and i would like the helpful hand of those who actually have them.
I've looked at the Steeda QA1, Racecraft, and UPR. What do you guys have? and what do you suggest? Pros and Cons?

What are you looking for from your k-member? Weight reduction? Header clearance? Lateral load strength?
Are you wanting to swap your A-arms and/or go coilover (or SLA), or are you attemtping to retain the stock parts/configuration?

QA1 Rocks we put it on the race car bolted right up to the car no problems at all we also have the tublar control arms and coil overs but the Kmember did come with bolt on spring pockets to use the stock control arms.
We raced the hell out the car at the shelby meet in 100+ heat thats also what we used to strap the car to the trailer with we beat on it hard and its still great i recomend Although i will say this while things are apart go ahead and do the coilovers and tublar lowers while your at it, it is really really worth the perfomance

The main reason i really want a tubular k is to move the engine from the stock location a few inches. i have a problem with my passenger side header rubbing.
Also, some weight reduction doesn't sound so bad hah. One thing that kinda concerns me is that i've heard some bad things about the Qa1... you can't beat the price, but then again, its probably cheap for a reason...

Well, you can move then engine around with the stock k-member, assuming that you have access to a drill and can weld.
I like the Maximum Motorsports and Griggs units, but they're built for the rigors of road racing, and are heavier than other units because of it. I believe that both force you to go with tubular A-arms and to convert to coil-overs, though. I seem to remember that the QA1 k-member was designed specifically for drag racing, but it's been a while since I saw that info.

Well you get what you pay for. I am against Qa1 and UPR because they both seem like really cheap pieces.
The best K members on the market are the Team Z motorsports one, Racecraft Inc, and PA racing. Those are the 3 best, imo, by a longshot. They keep the stock suspension geometry. The Qa1/MMR will move the wheels up an inch, and out an inch. Looks kinda odd imo. The three i listed are all built from the same Blueprint. UPR and Qa1 claim they build chromoly K members, but they are a mix with the mild steel. The three listed are all pure chromoly, and that means VERY light, and VERY VERY strong. I have the racecraft one, and I have not regretted it once. The thing fit perfectly and was VERY easy to install.(I mean, as easy as installing a Kmember is..) The best part about my K member to me, is you would never know its there. From the outside of the car, or inside. Its a great piece, and I HIGHLY recommend the Racecraft one. Thats what I have and with a part like this, DONT cheap out on it.

A close friend of mine keeps trying to get me to go the racecraft way as well. I was/am most def leaning towards the racecraft, i was just trying to weigh my options, you know... Looks like i'll be making a purchase pretty soon lol. Also, what coil over kit would you guys suggest? I want something that is damn sturdy but not gonna straight kill my wallet.

Racecraft Inc - Product Details
That is the K that i would like to get. You don't have to use the racecraft a arms do you? Couldn't i just use a different brand and a different brand coil overs?

I went with the PA racing.....the lightest kit in town and is used for daily driving....I use their arms with no perches because I use a full coil over set-up.......fully adjustable.....you can get it with spring perches also to maintain the front springs.....the clearance is awsome! The quality is perfect.........

i have had a PSR k-member on my car for well over two years now and i love it. the install was very simple, and it has plenty of clearance. its a top quality product, and its built to last. i have done plenty of street driving, and many trips to the track.

Well, he car is pretty steady on the top end. Doesnt sway at all. Im running 175s in the front and stock GT springs cut one coil in the rear. Honestly I couldnt tell you how it effected the car when shifting.

i'm gonna run the 175's too, and i just put the stockers back in last week but i still got a lot of bounce, i would think the lighter k member wont let the car nose dive as much, what shocks/ struts you run...?

All my passes have been on Stranges at all 4 corners. Fronts were all the way soft, and rears at like 7. The strange stuff works, the fronts were really noisy tho. I now have tokico Drag Illuminas in the front.
