mach system
i want to get rid of the pos 6 disc cd changer that came in my car...problem is i went to best buy and they told me i had to run new speaker wire to bypass the amps...so im like fuck that... is there a way to maintain use of the amps without bypassing them and install a new head unit?

I want to do the same thing but I want the MP3 player from my old V6 Stang back. It's hard to go from 120 songs per disc to 20. It's a pain!

Hah im supprised Best Buy even knew that... I worked there and their answer to everything is "um, i mean, its phat, its got like, blue flashing lights".. Anyways.. Yes you can do it without running new wire but it sounds terrible... The new wire isnt expensive or hard to do. Also, most head units are going to be 45 or 50 watts per channel. If you have that there is no need for the mediocre stock amps...

so do you think it will sound bad even with a speaker upgrade? are the speakers in it just the plain ford speakers?

Bypass the amp and it'll sound like ass.
Metra makes a harness, Also, you can just tie in new Subs and have a real good sounding system off most of the stock equip. It's a good system. If it's the headunit your just aiming to change for other reasons, I just went out and eventually rewired most of it, which is a pain. Get the metra harness...

With this mach system you are kinda SOL.... If you want the CD changer out, short of going with an FM modulator (which arent that great to begin with)... Changing out 1 thing more or less will requre a new system all together. Its just the way it is...

hah well for a stock system its pretty damn good... the problem is most people over time change out stock systems.. and this one happens to be a pain in the ass... imagine though how hard it would be to change out a system on lets say an Acura TL. Those have 10 speakers, 5 amps, XM unit, and a 8 inch tall head unit... After seeing some one change that, I will never complain again.....

i dont understand why everyone is having such a problem with their radios. i put an aftermarket headunit and just used the ford premium sound harness and matched the colors and mine sounds great. i did put another sub and some tweeters in there but even before then it sounded good.

0.o the stock system in the Mustang is probably the best stock system available in any vehicle today. If not, it's close to it.
FYI - Your probably using the Metra Harness.

I think the Mach sound system with the "factory amp" is very similiar to the JBL premium sound system that is in my Mark VIII LSC. The amp is a little boxy thing, to change out the head unit all you should need to do is go to Best Buy, Circuit City, sound shop, etc. and buy the correct wiring harness. Unless you're looking for high quality sound (which you can't do without rewiring and getting new speakers anyway) you'll be fine. I think you will be happy with the way it sounds.
