Incorrect Vehicle Code on SCT Xcal 3
So I get my tune today, get all my firmware and everything on the tuner updated, load the tune onto the tuner, and go to put it on my car. I follow the instructions just as they say, then my tuner gives me an "Incorrect Vehicle Code". This usually happens because it's locked to another car and that other car can't be returned to stock, but this is a brand new tuner... WTF?
Anyone know what's up? |

did you already set it up to your car prior to trying to put your custom tune on it?

i would say put one of the canned tunes on there first so that you know its set to your car and then put the custom tune on there.

well the last time I was at my tuner we found out my car got remapped from the dealership do to a TSB. So the code in the computer was different then the one on the door. you should be able to use your tuner to find out what the right code is.

i wasnt aware that some came without tunes. Sorry. you can go to technical support on sctflash.com and chat with a tech. They are very helpful. Thats what i would do before it gets late.

When I first turn on the tuner it says:
Current Strategy CVAF1B2 Locked Does that mean that it's locked to whatever car has the strategy code CVAF1B2? When I plug the tuner into my OBDII port and go to Vehicle info -> Read Strategy I get FBFG2TY. Is this a problem? |

RWTD tells me it's locked to another vehicle. Is there any way to tell what vehicle it's locked to? Do I need to send it back to cobrakiller and have him flash his back to stock? Would that unlock it?

you have to flash the original vehicle back to stock before using a hand held on another car. the only exception is if you take it to a sct dealer and have them unlock it.

That's what I thought too but Cobrakiller said that he flashed his car back to stock. Wouldnt it only have 4 unlocks left if he did that though?
