why would you think there'd be a problem with putting a 5.4 in an auto car? our auto's are EXTREMELY STRONG, even with a stock 4r70w (which is the tran's in these car's stock) a mild to moderate 5.4 can't come close to hurting it.

add's a little to the cost & complexity (not a lot but it all ads up) & most people that ask about this are building mostly street car's & I think it comes down to fun per $$ for most guy's in the end. don't let any one fool you or blow smoke up you ass, 500+ d/d are no fun once you start living with them for 99 % of us.

the stock ecu works fine. the stock tune will even get it running well enough to drive to a shop.
its just an issue of size. Heres my feeling on the matter. if you are willing to spend the time, money, and effort and doing a 5.4 2V swap then why wouldnt you be willing to do the 5.4 4V swap. you will NEVER find a 2V head that will flow like a 4V head. NEVER! now i already know some 2v fanboy is gonna jump up and blabber on about the TFS heads, but even ported you wont see the kind of power that youll see with a 4v head. the 4V swap really isnt much more difficult. you are already pulling your entire motor for a new one. its not as if you have the complication of changing your heads only. the only difference is that you may need to space the K-member with a set of MM k member spacers for less than 100$ to gain another 1/2" of space. its also a bit wider of a motor resulting in the inability to remove your valve cover with the motor in the bay, kind of a hassle when doing cams and such, but a hassle worth the extra performance. PM me for more info. ill get back to you faster. and PLEASE look up my thread. every question has already been answered there. its only a few weeks old and all the info is very fresh.

cheapest way is to get a running complete motor. if you want a 4V get it from a navi. a 2V, theres tons of sources easiest being the ford trucks. no matter which way you decide to go you MUST get a new intake. for the 2V swap the HPS works well. for the 4V the sullivan works. DO NOT get adapter plates or run the truck intake.

rep appreciated...
your current heads will work on a modular 5.4 block. the 2v motors have the same heads. only difference is the deck height. if you are even considering porting your 2v heads you should be getting a 4v motor. there isnt a port job in all the world that will flow like a stock 4v. the money you thought you might be saving by doing a 2v could be put toward a 4v instead. and believe me the 4v swap CAN be done for the same cost as the 2v swap. it IS NOT difficult to do. tell me what you want from all of this. what kind of power do you want to make is the long run? what are your future plans for the car? how much $$$ do you have to spend on this?

PM me so i can give you some phone numbers and contact info for people who REALLY know this swap inside and out. there are a few people who would be more than willing to talk with you about it that have lots of info and personal experience they could share with you.

youll have to spend thousands to make 400rwhp n/a on a 2v motor. and it wouldnt be practical to do that. if you can stand to spend $3,000 total on the swap it is more than possible to do the 4v. im gonna PM you right now.
